Next Speaker of EUCROF24 is announced as…… EUCROF is delighted to announce that Bart Lagerwaard from UMC Utrecht will be presenting the session "Do Decentralised Clinical Trials improve representativeness?" at EUCROF24. Bart said “Decentralised clinical trials (DCTs) move the trial activities to the patient’s home and have the potential to enhance the conduct of clinical trials in multiple ways, including increasing the accessibility to the trial for a wider population by eliminating geographical barriers, and at the same time offering the participants the comfort and convenience of performing the trial from their homes. Does this potential of DCTs improve the representativeness of the trial?” In this presentation Bart will share initial learnings from setting-up and conducting the RADIAL trial, a decentralised and hybrid proof-of-concept trial that aims to answer these (and many other) research questions on DCTs. The session will highlight the interconnections between operational trial innovations and considerations for representativeness of the trial. Kick-Off Meeting for PrISMA Joint Action! We are thrilled to announce the successful kick-off meeting of the Preparatory activities to support Implementation of quality and Safety of Medical ionising radiation Applications (PrISMA) held on May 27-28. This joint action is the next step toward enhancing the quality and safety of medical applications of ionising radiation across all EU Member States. The key objectives for PrISMA are as follows: 1️ Mapping the relevant actors in Member States and conducting networking and communication activities among those actors to promote the future initiative and mobilize the identified actors. 2️ Writing a report with a detailed definition of the objectives, scope, and activities of the future SAMIRA Joint Action. Our goal is to ensure a sustainable, high-quality, and safe use of diagnostic and therapeutic medical ionising radiation for all European citizens. Based on a recent CRO report, 5 FutureMeds Poland sites are responsible for 90% of randomisations in Poland for an ongoing cardiovascular study. To date, our Polish sites have enrolled 109 patients. FutureMeds Krakow alone randomised 40 patients, hitting Last Patient In 2 months ahead of the global forecast. What's the secret? One of them has to do with our approach to maintaining long-lasting relationships with patient populations and healthcare providers. The other revolves around the experience of our investigators and site team and thorough preparation. This is one of the reasons I would love to work in the field of clinical trials. If there are 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁, you can provide new hope. Each patient deserves to be treated. Results like these, where 𝟯 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 are still undergoing treatment after more than a year (see at 5.13 min in the video) , show the potential of this combination therapy.
