🚢 ➡️ LNG Bunkering Sales Off to a Strong Start in 2024 Liquefied natural gas (LNG) remains the fuel of choice for lower-carbon shipping, despite the rise in orders for vessels equipped with dual-fuel methanol and ammonia engines, according to Rystad Energy analysis. While question marks remain around just how environmentally friendly LNG is as a shipping fuel, its price competitiveness, abundant supply and well-developed infrastructure give it an advantage over the alternatives. This is particularly evident with LNG bunkering; fueling ships with LNG. #LNG #LNGbunkering #Rystad

Gate terminal B.V., a pivotal player in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, has launched a non-binding call for expression of interest to gauge market demand for small-scale ship loading services at its upcoming jetty, Jetty 4. This strategic move aims to assess interest in the provision of loading services for LNG, Bio-LNG, and synthetic LNG. Currently, Gate Terminal operates small-scale ship loading services primarily for the marine bunkering market at Jetty 3. Given the high occupancy rate at Jetty 3 and the optimistic forecast for the LNG bunkering market in Northwest Europe, the addition of Jetty 4 is deemed necessary to accommodate the sector’s growth. #bunkering #energy #shipping #marine #maritime #petroleum #shipowners #decarbonization #technology #digitalization #energytransition #sustainable #oilandgas #cleanenergy #carboncapture #ports #greenenergy #greenshipping #netcarbonzero #society #sustainability #bunkermarket #europe #usa #uk #canada #uae #netherlands #denmark #norway #sweden #singapore #rotterdam #portofrotterdam #gateterminal #lngbunkering https://lnkd.in/dSRkxhuv

🚢 ➡️ Shell: Demand for LNG as marine fuel set to grow Energy major Shell is backing LNG as a marine fuel and a product it plans to invest in to meet its emissions reduction targets. In its Energy Transition Strategy 2024, Shell said about 5% of shipping in operation on a gross tonnage basis is fuelled by LNG, which can reduce emissions by up to 23% compared with conventional fuels. #LNG #Shell #LNGbunkering #marinefuels

🌟 Exciting News in LNG Shipping Innovation! 🚢 Chevron Takes Strides Towards Sustainability and Efficiency with Reliquefaction Units Integration 🌱 Chevron, a global leader in energy, has just announced its plans to revolutionize its LNG shipping operations by equipping its carriers with state-of-the-art reliquefication units. 🛳️💡 This strategic move underscores Chevron's unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and environmental stewardship in the LNG industry. By installing reliquefaction units on its fleet of LNG carriers, Chevron is poised to tackle one of the most significant challenges in LNG transportation: minimizing natural gas losses during transit. 🌍♻️ For those unfamiliar, reliquefaction units play a vital role in capturing boil-off gas – the natural byproduct of LNG warming up during shipment – and converting it back into LNG. By reintegrating this gas into the cargo tanks, Chevron can significantly reduce cargo losses, operational costs, and, most importantly, greenhouse gas emissions associated with LNG transportation. 📉🌿 This initiative isn't just about optimizing operations; it's about demonstrating Chevron's proactive approach to sustainability and its commitment to delivering cleaner energy solutions to the world. By investing in cutting-edge technologies like reliquefaction units, Chevron is not only enhancing the competitiveness of its LNG business but also driving positive change in the industry toward a more sustainable future. 🌟💚 Let's continue to celebrate and support companies like Chevron as they pave the way for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable energy future! 🌏💫 #LNG #Shipping #Innovation #Sustainability #Chevron #CleanEnergy #EnvironmentalStewardship #FutureOfEnergy

Cost, scale, and track-record. LNG is the most important alternative shipping fuel, certainly in the foreseeable future. Shell recently said that: “LNG is the lowest-carbon marine fuel available at scale today and offers significant greenhouse gas emissions reductions compared with conventional fuels...we believe demand for LNG in shipping will grow, including for liquefied biomethane." https://lnkd.in/dHBXi4vX

📍#LNGAsFuel📍 ✅ LNG is currently the most developed 🥇 alternative fuel in terms of bunkering infrastructure and its usage is expected to increase significantly 🚀. ✅ Major ports worldwide have established LNG bunkering facilities 💧 and new projects continue to expand this network 📈. LNG remains a cost-effective option 💰 due to its relatively lower price compared to other low-carbon fuels. ✅ LNG use is relatively stable, starting at 9% in 2023 and experiencing an increase 📈 to 14% by 2028 before stabilizing around 13% by 2040 📅. ✅ LNG is not entirely carbon-free 💭, but certain LNG pathways (biomethane, e-methane) have the potential to significantly reduce emissions 📉 compared to conventional fuels, making it a practical choice 🏆 for compliance and environmental performance improvements in both the short and long term. ✅ Currently, there are 8️⃣3️⃣7️⃣ new LNG-powered vessels in the global orderbook 🖋. There is a substantial increase in containerships adopting LNG 💧, likely due to lower emissions compared to traditional fuels. 📌 Source : Offshore Energy #lng #lngindustry #lngshipping #maritime #accidentinvestigation #safety #management
