Today (Sept 5th) is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day, a cause that holds a very special place in my heart and in the heart of Tx Five. As some of you may know, the creation of Tx Five was driven by a personal experience that deeply affected my family. My younger brother suffered a severe spinal cord injury, and he continues to be an inspiration day in, day out. His resilience and positivity serve as a living reminder that no matter what you're faced with, you can overcome it. You can defy the odds and you can choose to make a truly positive impact on those around you. At Tx Five, we believe in making a positive impact not just in the biotech world, but in the wider patient community too. That's why we proudly donate a portion of our fees to Wings for Life, a spinal cord research foundation dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries. If you watch just one thing today, make it this... 💗 🏥 Every week in the UK & Ireland 70 people suffer an aortic dissection. Sadly, half die. An aortic dissection occurs when there is a partial tear in the aortic wall. It is a time critical medical emergency that (when diagnosed and treated on time) has a better than 80% survival rate. Sadly 33% of those suffering from an aortic dissection are misdiagnosed, including my mum. An aortic dissection can happen at any age, and without any apparent warning. 2000 lives are lost in the UK every year, and it's estimated that 10 people die a week due to misdiagnosis. OK, I'm the writer in our family, so I hope my brother, Mark, and sister, Dawn, (both high school math teachers) don't make fun of my attempt at a mathematic equation. Here it is: In three days, I will join my wife, Jennifer, and her team – Team MonsterS – for Walk MS in Frankenmuth. This will be my 25th time participating in Walk MS since I was diagnosed in 2000. With this, I'm calculating what it will take to encourage you to support my efforts to benefit me, Jennifer, and the nearly 1 million other people in the United States living with this chronic progressive disease. Here is the breakdown of what it will take to raise the remaining $2,000 to reach my $2,600 goal: • 200 people to donate $10 (there is strength in numbers!) • 80 people to donate $25 ($1 for each year I’ve lived with MS) • 40 people to donate $50 • 20 people to match my $100 donation • 10 people to donate $200 • 4 people to donate $500 • 1 person to donate $2,000 (it never hurts to ask!)
