Fundraising spotlight ⭐ On 19 October, Amy and her close friends and family are doing the ⛰️Welsh Three Peaks (Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan) to raise vital awareness AND funds for the hospitals, spinal units and charities that have supported her during her journey with Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES). 💬"CES is often misunderstood or misdiagnosed, leading to delayed treatment and therefore the potential for devastating outcomes for patients. I received a diagnosis and treatment within 24 hours of the initial onset and unfortunately still have irreparable nerve damage and lifelong bladder and bowel conditions." The trek is 17 miles (27.4km), with an ascent of 2334m (7657ft) in just 24 hours! Please support Amy and co as they undertake his huge challenge by visiting her Just Giving page⬇️ https://lnkd.in/emJiRxEh Thank you to CESCI for making this possible!

In response to the recent Grenfell Inquiry, we have co-signed a statement, alongside other organisations that represent the disabled community, condemning the horrendous inequalities which led to the fire claiming so many lives, and calling on the Government to implement policies so that it can never happen again. The Paralympics are easily the biggest representation that disability gets on a global stage but just because it’s over, doesn’t mean that the issues faced by disabled people shouldn’t remain at the forefront of people’s minds. Something as simple as getting out and about, or going on holiday, is often an unpleasant experience for someone with spinal cord injury. In our recent Travel with Confidence survey: 🚫 62% of respondents supporting someone with SCI said they’ve experienced challenges when travelling 🚫14% had NO positive experiences that they could share Our team are currently processing the results of the survey to work out what the next steps are – what resources and info do people need? What do we need to focus our future campaign efforts on? How do we make life better for the spinal cord injury community? Keep an eye on our website for news... www.spinal.co.uk
