RARE Kratom dangerous side effects found to be RARE according to NIDA National Institute on Drug Abuse. Let's pause and reflect on this: NIDA, responsible for combating the opioid crisis, confirms that serious adverse effects with Kratom are uncommon. If addiction were a significant concern, they would undoubtedly flag it. Additionally, it's essential to consider the repercussions of drug hysteria and exaggerated emphasis on rare adverse events in medical literature. Learn more here: [Link](https://lnkd.in/gxmU-zjS)

When we say to normalize naloxone, this is why. Per SAPC, accidental overdoses skyrocketed by 1,652% in just 6 years. There is no room for stigma and judgment when we lose over 100 individuals a day to opioid overdoses. By carrying naloxone, you can be the reason that someone gets another chance. Full report linked in article below. If you are wondering how to recognize/respond to an opioid overdose or need free naloxone, comment or send me a DM.

Public Advisory: Another potent sedative, medetomidine, is now appearing in the illicit drug supply. ⚠ This advisory is intended to make the public aware of a new threat entering the illegal drug supply in various parts of the United States, as reported by the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education (CFSRE). Although there have been no reports of the substance in community drug sample tests by the New York State Department Health thus far, it is important that education about medetomidine and its effects be disseminated among treatment providers, harm reduction programs and people who use drugs to help prevent overdose. Read the full advisory on our website at https://lnkd.in/e3S6SAHF. You can also order free naloxone and fentanyl/xylazine test strips from our online ordering portal. As always, New Yorkers struggling with an addiction, or whose loved ones are struggling, can find help and hope by calling the state’s toll-free, 24-hour, 7-day-a-week HOPEline at 1-877-8-HOPENY (1-877-846-7369) or by texting HOPENY (467369). 📱 #EveryStepOfTheWay

Heroin or fentanyl: Prevalence of confirmed fentanyl in ED patients with suspected heroin overdose. Our collaboration with ACMT and the Manini-led Fentalog study. We examined the analytical confirmation of fentanyl in emergency department (ED) patients with documented heroin overdose as it is unclear whether or not patients are knowingly using fentanyl. The increasing prevalence of fentanyl and fentanyl analogs in the “heroin” supply is a major contributory factor in the rise of opioid overdose deaths. The majority of opioid users who do not deliberately seek out fentanyl nevertheless test positive for fentanyl. Read more here and in the link in our link tree: https://lnkd.in/gVent9MY
