Today marks my 13th Anniversary as a member of The Brydens Group. I feel privileged to have had the chance to collaborate with influential individuals who have enabled me to forge a fulfilling path while contributing value to the organization. Reflecting on my journey, if you had asked me at the outset if I envisioned myself in my current role, I would likely have answered affirmatively. I have always been driven and recognized the unique skillset I possess and how it can effectively be utilized. My philosophy includes volunteering my talents where I believe they can make a difference, regardless of personal gain. This approach has not only opened doors to unforeseen opportunities but also allowed me to display abilities beyond my designated responsibilities. At Brydens, I have transitioned from Brand Manager to Business Development Manager and now Group Corporate Affairs Manager—a career trajectory that aligns perfectly with my aspirations. Each role has been a learning experience, allowing me to refine my skills and maintain a perpetual sense of excitement. Ultimately, it boils down to comprehending your value. In essence, if you view yourself as a brand, what principles do you stand for? My journey highlights the significance of hard work, belief, and being a bit of a dreamer. Defining your identity and ensuring that you consistently deliver on it is paramount. As I celebrate 13 years with Brydens with great enthusiasm, I hope, in your journey, you too have a narrative of growth and self-discovery, where you have carved out opportunities by recognizing your inherent value. The memories are endless and only matched by the lessons learned. My teams in Lubbock, Amarillo and Clovis are the reason to celebrate these 4 years. You guys make the communities you serve even better. You provide care for so many beautiful souls. To celebrate these four years. Here are some lessons learned: 1. Most hard decisions are made easier when wearing adorable slippers. My favorite office nickname to date is slippers. 2- When encountering an intense situation don’t handle it in isolation. My team has great ideas, I just have to be intentional at asking good questions. If you feel like you are over-communicating. You are probably just now communicating enough. 3- Plan for fun and always have a pulse on your energy as a leader. I can be intense and I know that about myself so I schedule fun with my team. That looks different everyday and from team to team but that is really where I get to learn about them and they are the most important thing. 4- Protect the culture. It is the foundation of who we are and how we thrive. Here’s to the next year! The best is to come!

I recently made a mistake when celebrating a great month in our company.  We blew away our goal and I wanted to recognize our team. Instead of just congratulating our team for their great accomplishment, I threw in the dreaded "but" at the end of it. "but, next month will most likely be much different." There was no need for me to do this.  I intended to shield them from a possible letdown the following month since we always have a strong January. The "but" was not necessary at that time (and probably not at all). Celebrate your wins.  Recognize the success of your team - the other stuff can wait. A well-informed team already knows of the challenges that may lie ahead and is prepared to handle them. Let celebrating your wins stand on its own.  Do not dilute what your team accomplished. Interestingly, February came and they beat our target for that month as well.....and did it again in March.

Celebrating Father’s Day reminds us of the joy and pride we feel when our roles are recognized and appreciated. This sense of fulfillment should extend to our professional lives as well. It’s essential to stay committed to our responsibilities without always seeking personal achievements. True success isn't just about individual accomplishments; it’s about contributing to the collective victory of our team. When our team succeeds, we succeed – this shared triumph is a more meaningful and enriching form of success. By focusing on the success of our team, we foster a more collaborative and supportive work environment. This collective effort not only leads to greater achievements but also builds stronger, more resilient teams. Ultimately, our individual success is intertwined with the success of those around us, making every victory a shared celebration.

Major props to one of the giants of ResProp Management, Angela Aguilar, celebrating her five-year anniversary with our team!  👉 Angela is a standout leader in so many ways. Most importantly, she’s a servant leader – she’s always hyper-attentive to the needs of the teams she leads, and digs in to help them get the work done – never afraid to dive deep and help push things forward. 💥But Angela is also a fierce competitor.  Think about the affect Michael Jordan had on anyone who played on the same court–he elevated everyone’s game. On Michael’s court, you can't just show up and play–you come and give it your ALL. 👉 Same with Angela – when she commits to anything, it instantly motivates the team and suddenly they find a new gear to complete something that was previously unreachable. It’s a pleasure to work with you Angela – it’s been great fun (with a huge dose of HARD WORK) to build out ResProp with you.  Last word here – Angela’s work ethic is unmatched. You literally have to peel her away from her work. This passion is infectious and again, is something that motivates everyone around her. Some dates are always special such as today, the date when we launched Silver Talkies Club six years ago in 2018, based on the inputs from attendees of our events. They wanted to meet more often, know their co-participants better and have more fun and engaging opportunities. Hence Silver Talkies Club was born in a time and age when active ageing, loneliness and isolation among older adults were not spoken about or discussed much in our country. I was in fact told by many peers that I was playing in a small niche field. Fast forward to 2024, almost every new player in the senior care space is looking at addressing similar issues with similar models. Did we start too early or did they start too late? I think it is immaterial for as they say that all's well that ends well. What is most heartening for me is to note that in the pic below all the people who became members in 2018 are still members in 2024, with the exception of one member whom we lost a few months ago. Well done to a big 8 years at Hays Michael Li. I admire the belief you have in what you do. You have taught me what it really means to be a Learner. “I like understanding new things” or “I’m open minded” is miles and miles away from what you are - CliftonStrength #2 Learner. To be a Learner is an insatisable desire and talent to know every nook and cranny of a complex system with no direction but your own volition to acquire knowledge. What most people would take one look at and say “too hard” or “I just need you to tell me what to do”, Learners possess an incredible power to dissect every aspect of the task at hand, understand it, and rebuild it better. You listen to every point that is being said and you’re not fooled by the fluff or “charm” or charisma. You will stand your ground, even if no one else is there to back you. You have my admiration.
