But what about kids?...🤔 I have this resounding thought that needs to be addressed, can integrating mandatory mental health education in school curriculums significantly improve long-term societal wellbeing, or does it risk placing undue pressure on the already overburdened education system? What are your thoughts on this approach to addressing mental health from an early age? #Brainfood #MentalHealthAwareness #EducationReform #WellBeing #MentalHealthMatters #SchoolMentalHealth #InclusiveEducation #MentalWellness #FutureOfEducation #SupportEducation #HealthyMinds #EdTech

#TeachableTuesday 👨👩👧👦 Taking Mental Health Breaks as Parents As the school year comes to a close, parents will most likely have more quality time with their children. Children bring endless joy, but their demands, playdates, activities, and messes can become overwhelming. While many moments of parenting make it all worth it, parents still need regular mental health breaks to recharge. This month we are sharing some tips to help parents take those much-needed breaks while ensuring their kids are well taken care of. Our tip this week is to find creative ways to take breaks. Sometimes, you might need a break away from the sensory overload of child noise. It's okay to ask another adult to take over for a bit. Find a quiet spot, like the bathroom, or take a walk outside. A well-regulated parent is better equipped to support their children. Our first tip of the month is accepting that it's okay to take breaks! Taking a break is essential for self-regulation, even for parents. You can take a break while staying near your children, like grounding your feet outside or listening to a song together. Remember, it's okay to step away when needed to stay calm and balanced. This week marks an incredibly important event on the mental health calendar - #ChildrensMentalHealthAwarenessWeek. Now more than ever, it's vital that we shine a light on the importance of children and young people's #MentalHealth. We live in a world that is increasingly stressful and anxiety-inducing. Our kids are dealing with challenges that are unique to their generational experience. From navigating the complexities of the online world, dealing with school pressures, to coping with the global effects of a pandemic, the mental health landscape for children has never been more complex. Yet, it's heartening to see how resilient our youngest generation can be. With the right support, understanding, and tools, they navigate these challenges with surprising courage and adaptability. As adults - parents, caregivers, teachers, or coaches - it's our role to provide safe spaces for children to express their feelings, to equip them with the tools to manage stress and anxiety, and to remind them that it's okay to ask for help. This week, let's pledge not only to raise awareness but also to take tangible actions to support them. Let's validate their experiences, encourage open conversations, and educate ourselves to better support them. Remember, there are various resources available that can guide us in supporting our children's mental health. Let's make an all-out effort to make them feel heard, understood, and supported. #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek #EveryMindMatters #MentalHealthAwareness

Considering the absolute state of things at the moment, it’s no surprise that I’m currently doing lots of training sessions for school staff on adolescent mental health and how to talk to young people about difficult topics. Without minimising or being reductive, for me, it all boils down to meeting needs and being able to be an unconditional and trusted presence in young people’s lives, rather than trying to fix things or always knowing the right thing to say. One of the things I talk about is children’s needs and how, if we as adults are able to meet these needs as far as possible, many of the peripheral problems dissolve. And what are children’s needs? Some of them include: · Love · Attention · Touch · Routine · Empathy and understanding · Praise · Safe boundaries · A sense of personal control and choice · Support · Respect · Freedom · Independence · Trust · Communication · Forgiveness · Unconditional presence of trusted adults Not much different from the needs we have as adults… If you work in a school and would like this sort of training, get in touch with me via my website www.cleanwellbeing.com. #PSHE #wellbeing #schoolwellbeing #mentalhealth #mentalillness #relationships #meetingneeds #childrensmentalhealth
