Eighteen-month-old Lewis Mika is one of only 40 people worldwide with KCNK9 Imprinting Syndrome, a rare condition affecting muscle tone, speech, and motor skills. Despite the challenges, Lewis is a happy, positive toddler, bringing joy to everyone he meets ✨ For families like the Mikas, the Redcliffe Hospital Children’s Ward has become a second home. This year, donations from the Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital's Giving Day are going towards renovating the parent lounge and children’s playroom, to create a welcoming, home-like space for families to relax away from the clinical environment. “These spaces are vital,” says Acting Clinical Nurse Coordinator Alyssa Kemp. “They give families a place to gather, relax, and feel a little more at home during difficult times.” To find out more about you can help Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital visit: https://lnkd.in/ee8UEUB

My Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF) fundraiser is building momentum! Thanks to my friends and family who have donated so far. But we still have some time left! My family is supporting CLF for a few of reasons: First, we want youth sports to be safe for our kids. That’s something I would hope we all can get behind. Second, there are way too many ex-athletes of all ages who are suffering from symptoms of CTE. The free CLF HelpLine provides personalized support to those struggling with the outcomes of brain injury including concussions, post-concussion syndrome, and suspected CTE. Offering medical and educational resources, 1:1 peer support, and peer support groups, this interactive community provides patients and caregivers an inclusive, safe setting to recover together. So far, 6,000 families have benefitted from the CLF HelpLine, and with your help, we can grow this unique, vital, and FREE resource that changes lives. Finally, as we approach Memorial Day, we do this to support our veterans. We all know about some of the struggles that our veterans face after serving our country. What is new is the number of veterans that are discovered to have signs of CTE. Our military veterans and their families deserve to get resources they need to deal with the effects of brain trauma. CLF’s Project Enlist is designed to get those families the answers and the help they need. Please consider making a donation today at https://lnkd.in/eVRzhuUV.

We’re out & about today, speaking with Roadchef colleagues up and down the UK about the importance of learning CPR. There are more than 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests each year in the UK, and they can happen anywhere, at any time. Shockingly, the survival rate is less than 1 in 10 – but early CPR and defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival. We’re asking Roadchef colleagues to vote for BHF to be their next charity partner! In partnership, we will help save lives today, by training Roadchef colleagues in CPR and turning service stations into lifesaving hubs. And together, we’ll help save lives tomorrow by funding the next groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, helping to keep families together for longer. Roadchef, your vote can help save lives.

Philadelphia continues to feel the effects of the relentless opioid crisis. While the city has a robust network of services and dedicated government, public health, and medical professionals, the treatment system is complex, fragmented, and perceived to be inaccessible to many people seeking care. Recent research from Thomas Jefferson University, supported by The Pew Charitable Trusts, examines the current system of care, how patients navigate it, and ways to increase access to high quality treatment. https://lnkd.in/drHPd_PC #OpioidUseDisorder #OpioidCrisis #OpioidTreatment
