Another report, this time from the government of Denmark, showing that MDMA is proven to be effective and safe for PTSD. https://lnkd.in/eBP4GaJc Key findings of the report include: Harm from recreational ecstasy use in the Netherlands is limited, with no or very low dependence liability, no clinically relevant persistent cognitive deficits, and a limited number of serious incidents. MDMA-assisted therapy appears to be an effective and safe treatment for chronic and treatment-resistant PTSD patients. With approximately 400,000 people suffering from PTSD and less than 25% receiving evidence-based trauma treatment, there is a significant unmet need for PTSD treatment. The Dutch government should facilitate the introduction and use of MDMA-assisted therapy as soon as possible. Given the unlikely registration of this treatment with the European Medicines Agency soon, the committee proposes starting a large naturalistic study to provide MDMA treatment to those who need it most and to monitor PTSD patients receiving MDMA. #MDMA #psychedelics #PTSD #Denmark #MDMAassistedtherapy

In this episode, we're joined by Dr Julie Denning, Managing Director and Chartered Health psychologist at Working2Wellbeing and chair of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association. Also joining us is Generali's own early intervention and rehabilitation expert, Kay Needle to discuss the latest thinking in support for employees with long-term conditions. Around 15 million people in England alone have a long-term condition. That's a condition that has to be managed with drugs or treatment such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke or cancer. And the number of people with three or more long-term conditions or multimorbidity, is ever-rising, bringing with it rising demand for prevention and management. Even long COVID, which is not as prevalent as any of these conditions but is arguably receiving most attention in the media, at least, is now verging into this territory and is also contributing to the wider discussion around chronic fatigue. Such conditions are more prevalent than others, but will undoubtedly impact people in most workplaces. So what are the trends? The latest thinking and support and barriers to progress?

If you suspect you may be Neurodiverse and are thinking of visiting a health professional to be assessed there are things to be aware of and to look out for. Look for a practitioner who takes an holistic approach to assessment and treatment, considering all aspects of an individual's experiences and functioning, to help identify the most appropriate supports and interventions regardless of whether symptoms stem from trauma, neurodiversity, or a combination of both. Find out more about the difference between neurodiverse and Neurodiverse in our latest blog post by Anton Ashcroft https://lnkd.in/gGBqYe_U

Legislators have taken an important step toward improving mental health care in Alaska with the introduction of a bill to establish a task force focused on psychedelic medicine. Group members hope to address the ongoing mental health crisis through the exploration of psychedelic-assisted therapies. If passed, the Alaska mental health and psychedelic medicine task force aims to: 🔍Assess the potential use of psychedelic medicine in mental health care. 🔍Identify barriers to implementation and equitable access. 🔍Recommend licensing and insurance requirements for practitioners, in anticipation of federal changes regarding psychedelic medicines. 🔍Explore legal and regulatory pathways for the legalization of psychedelic medicines in Alaska. We celebrate Alaska's proactive approach to mental health care by recognizing the significant value of psychedelic medicine. 👏 This initiative has the potential to greatly influence the future of mental health treatment in the state and beyond! #alaskamentalhealth #mentalhealth #psychedelicmedicine #psychedelictherapy #progress

What are your thoughts on the Research Domain Criteria (#RDoC) initiative? Former NIMH director Dr. Thomas Insel created RDoC to address limitations in diagnostic algorithms such as the DSM. However, many of the same limitations identified by Dr. Insel might be applicable to other complex diseases. Do you think RDoC has been beneficial for mental health research and advancing clinical practice? Or, are there reasons to believe that RDoC may be more effective in addressing mental health concerns than other complex diseases? Share your perspective on this important topic, and thank you for weighing in! #mentalhealth #research #clinicalpractice #healthcare
