What do a vineyard and a comprehensive fundraising plan have in common? Well, a lot. During a morning walk today, I looked at the dormant grapevines and noted that the grape harvest is more than six months away. That's a long time. 📅 In the Autumn, all the hard work done in many months preceding the harvest.... the pruning, the watering, the fertilizing, pays off when it's time to pick the juicy grapes off the vine. So too, with a fundraising plan. A lot needs to happen in the lead-up to a big campaign to bear fruit 🍇 (sorry, I couldn't help myself with the pun).  Here at CauseMatch, we talk to the non-profits we work with about the Ask, Thank, Report method. Most organizations do the asking and thanking very well. The reporting back to a donor about what an organization has been able to accomplish since the donor gave is where some organizations fall short. There are a lot of creative ways to report back to a donor over the course of a year to keep them engaged and excited to participate in the next "harvest." Food insecurity — the lack of access to sufficient food, particularly nutritious food, due to limited financial resources — has devastating consequences for health, social, economic, and educational outcomes.
