Interested in the future of battery production? 🔋 Within the research project #AutKaM, we are working on an innovative method that could enhance the manufacturing of battery electrodes. How? Our focus lies in reducing errors during calendaring, which directly impacts battery performance. 🚀 Our goal is to implement this method in large-scale productions. Dear network, exciting news:   I am happy to announce that I will be speaking at the 11th “Elektromobilproduktionstagen” (Electromobility Production Days - EPT) in Aachen.   The EPT is the annual specialist conference and trade show on exciting topics related to electromobility. On October 25th and 26th, 2023 we will exchange views on the current challenges in the production technology of e-mobility components and the possibility of expanding our expertise in Europe.   The fuel cell as a core component of electromobility will be examined in detail in the session "Fuel Cell Component Production" 💧. How can we successfully combine ecology and economy in our future mobility and which technological trends can give European manufacturers competitive advantages? We will answer these and other questions together at the EPT.   The event is organized by PEM RWTH Aachen University, Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB, and Campus Forum and takes place in the business and event area of the Aachen Tivoli.   I am really looking forward to entering into an exciting dialogue with many interested participants. On 4th May 2023 we met to kick-off our EU-funded EIC Pathfinder Project reaCtor – „Fibre-Based Plasmonic Microreactor for Flow Chemistry“ at the Hannover Institute of Technology, Germany. In this 4-year project we will realize an innovative solution for reducing CO2 emissions in chemical industry. We will employ plasmonic nanoparticles in specialty optical fibres to efficiently transfer energy from photons to photochemical reactions. These microreactors will be microfluidically connected to enable flow chemistry. Since multiple of these reactors can be driven with only one light source, this approach enables a huge scale-up toward a sustainable chemical industry. We are very happy that our project is as interdisciplinary as it’s European: We are looking forward to the next steps with our partners from AMOLF (Wiebke Albrecht, Esther Alarcon Llado, Erik Garnett), University of Amsterdam (Timothy Noel, Elia Savino), Universidad de La Laguna (Airán Ródenas), Lukasiewicz Institute (Ryszard Buczynski), EurA AG (Susann Spindler), and Leibniz University Hannover (Michael Steinke, Simon Spelthann). #innovation, #fibers, #microreactors, #sustainablity, #collaboration

Without #batteries, no future. At least not a climate-neutral future. The Netherlands is collaborating with #Germany on education, research, and developments on the next generation of batteries. The Dutch Twente region forms the connecting link in cross-border cooperation with the Nord-Westphalia region. This is why the University of Twente is happy to host the Battery Days on 9 November, where this Dutch-German cooperation is on the agenda.  Rutger van Poppel, Program Manager BCC-NL, is one of the speakers that day: "By connecting all stakeholders in the Netherlands and linking them with complementary partners across borders, we can stimulate innovation needed to face global challenges. Such cooperation and joint innovation are necessary for the valorization of knowledge and the growth of our promising Dutch battery industry." The Battery Competence Cluster - NL is organizing this two-day event in cooperation with Twente Board, the MEET Institute Battery Research Center of the University of #Münster, and the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFB. Dutch Project Revolutionizes New Battery Technology and Manufacturing Processes. We participate in this #NXTGEN project. Our role: Delft University of Technology SEE #battery #research group, headed by prof. dr. ir. Marnix Wagemaker, is to develop the #solid #electrolytes, optimized for the specific NXTGEN #silicon #anodes, and contribute to developing the processing of solid #electrolytes and solid #state batteries, that profoundly differs from existing Li-ion #batteries. Further, bottle neck processes will be investigated, enabling the development of successful solid state battery concepts, using advanced characterization techniques that allow to monitor Li-ion transport and electrochemical processes on the atomic up till mesoscopic scale including neutron scattering at the TU Delft Reactor Institute and solid state #NMR methodologies.
