We are turning Green with happiness! 💚 We are proud to partner with Bambrew, a company on a mission to make our planet a better place to live. We led Bambrew’s latest funding round where the company has raised INR 60 Cr (about $7 Mn). Bambrew, part of Blume’s Fund IV, is innovating towards sustainability, curating a host of eco-friendly products made from bamboo, sugarcane, and seaweed. All products are 100% reusable, and serve as the perfect natural substitute for plastic. Arpit Agarwal, Partner at Blume Ventures, says, “Similar to how the FAME II subsidies provided tailwinds for the rise of EVs, we envision that the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) regulations in India will lead to the rise of circular economy companies. Sustainable packaging solutions then become a need for which there are very few complete products in the market. The capability of this team to provide end-to-end solutions for FMCG and e-commerce customers and their capacity to innovate ahead of competition make this an ideal investment.” Fun Fact: Bambrew’s ingenious products and processes have managed to save more than 60,000 tons of single-use plastic and 125,000 tons of carbon emissions. Watch the video to see how Vaibhav Anant and the rest of the Bambrew team are trying to solve one of the world’s biggest problems: the rampant use of single-use plastic. Karthik B. Moving on with insights from moderating the circular economy panel during recent SectorLabs 3.0 event this March. 👏🏿 Sinan Kitagenda and Daniel Kayemba are the founders behind WastePlus, a venture dedicated to conceptualizing and introducing products crafted entirely from recycled plastic. ♻ Through using innovative machines and community-driven plastic collection initiatives, they're exploring a diverse portfolio of products to fulfill market needs sustainably. Their main takeaway? Sustainable products in Uganda are competing with their virgin plastic alternatives, so it is really important to position them according to the demand and to mindful of the pricing. One of the solutions is careful consideration of the possibilities of flexible production process in the prototyping phase, which can lead to better marketing mix in terms of appropriate features and price for the end user. 💡 Shoutout to the Waste+ team, and the moderator of this panel, Philemon Flachsmeyer! Stay tuned in the weeks to come as we share more insights - we have 3 other sectors to cover. 😉 #sustainability #recycling #impact #entrepreneurship

In the future, industrial plastic will be made using food waste! 🥗♻️ That’s what one of the startups at the hub is working towards. The name is Yngvik, and behind the name stands Catarina Schneider, Gorm Leo Carstensen, and Miriam Deutschle. They met at the OpenInnovation challenge in 2022, where they were tasked with coming up with an innovative solution to food waste, which then turned into the idea of making plastic using said waste. Fast forward to today, where Yngvik has participated in our 10-week startup accelerator program, Ignite, and the European Venture Program, among others, plus created a prototype of their novel plastic polymer called CAL. Yngvik started with nothing more than a piece of paper, some scribbles, and a major drive to create a future that’s not reliant on petroleum-based plastics but instead on home compostable plastics that even disintegrate naturally in water. Read the story behind Yngvik here: https://lnkd.in/eW3y6TgR And pssst! The deadline for applications to our startup programs is on February 11, 23:59 ⏰ #DTUInnovation #Innovation #Startup #StartupSupport #Tech #Entrepreneurship #Sustainability #Plastic #GreenTransition
