All too often bosses will say that they empower their employees but in reality that may not be true. Ex. A server was told that she was empowered to do whatever it took to make dissatisfied guests happy. A server felt that taking an item or two off of a check was necessary to accomplish this, then gets reprimanded because the server didn't ask the manager first. The manager really isn't giving the server true responsibility. We are project managers leading teams on each events. We are recruiters and HR. Yes, most of companies in hospitality industry do not have an HR department, so we are in charge of searching, interviewing and training new staff, some times we even do this for all F&B departments.
