It was such a great pleasure to join the #FAME Project EU-CEM Summer School representing the SINFONICA Project! I strongly believe in having one single common evaluation framework and I must say that the #FAME team has done a great job in proving a detailed and yet flexible methodology. The next steps for the SINFONICA Project will be to share our #SINFONICA participatory approach evaluation framework to see what liaisons can be possible among the two frameworks. Ahead of Rail Reform, we are making a very conscious effort in the Network Rail 'Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and Borders' route to align much more closely with our main train operator, Transport for Wales (TfW). We are not doing this at the expense of any of our other train and freight operator customers, we are actively collaborating there too. Why are we doing this? Well it is to deliver a better railway for passengers and freight shippers: simpler, better, greener. This is a closer partnership between Network Rail and TfW - Our vehicle for doing this is called 'Cyfuno', which is the Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 language word to 'combine' or 'come together'. We are using this mindset to challenge ourselves, and each other, when we are not doing the simplest, best thing in order to deliver a brilliant railway. We have had lots successes with this approach, and many challenges (nothing is easy!). Emma Osborn, our Passenger Strategy Director, has led the team in Network Rail on this, and they are very active in this space. In this blog, I introduce the majority of the Customer Team - The team want to serve customers as best as we can. And in doing so, provide a reliable, safe, low carbon alternative method to travel. I am also very grateful to colleagues from TfW for their active contribution to the partnership and 'Cyfuno'. With my Video 🎥 Blogs, I naturally want to portray how we work in the 'Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and Borders' route. We are serious, but have fun. We are structured, but are willing to challenge ourselves and change. None of my Video Blogs are properly planned - They just happen. At the end of this week is 'International Women's Day', and I hope that in sharing this, and other Video Blogs, we are demonstrating that our railway in 'Wales and Borders' is really proud of the Women that deliver the railway that we are all so passionate about. 🌟 Exciting News from TRA2024! 🌟 Representatives from the MODI Project consortium are participating in the Transport Research Arena (TRA) in Dublin (Ireland). The theme for #TRA2024 is “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility. TRA is the largest European research and innovation conference on transport and mobility. MODI's coordinator, Dr. Ragnhild Wahl, moderated yesterday's Special Session 3.3, titled "How can Large-scale Demonstration Accelerate CCAM Adoption in European Logistic Chains?" The session contributed insights from other current European CCAM demonstration projects under the CCAM Association framework, such as AWARD-H2020 and MODI Project, and observations on how to achieve implementation cases beyond demonstration and Research and innovation projects. MODI was represented by Andreas Allström (Einride), Mats Rosenquist Rosenquits (Volvo Group), and Mads Skovsgaard Rasmussen (DFDS). The session offered different views on the effectiveness of large-scale demonstrations as a tool to enhance CCAM technology adoption across Europe. Moreover, the speakers also emphasized the focus on safety in the CCAM-related use cases in Europe, and a comparison with the approach applied in other markets was discussed. Furthermore, MODI will be represented in the third Interactive Symposium on Research & Innovation for Connected and Automated Driving in Europe (EUCAD Symposium 2024), which will be held in conjunction with the TRA Conference. Complementary to the CCAM (sub-)theme of TRA 2024, the event aims to delve deeper into specific key topics and challenges for CCAM Research, Innovation, and testing in Europe and beyond.
