Meet the team 👇🏻 Henry's journey with Corpore began in the summer of 2018, stepping into the public relations field as an intern. Coming from a background in political science and economics, he found himself in unfamiliar territory. Yet, by 2019, after a couple more internships and a steep learning curve, he became a full-time member of the Corpore family. For him, it's been a path filled with growth 📈 and unexpected opportunities. Working in PR, especially on public affairs projects, has opened his eyes to the intricacies of communicating in a complex world. Every client and project brings its own set of challenges, from navigating the nuances of pharmaceuticals to the fast-paced world of consumer electronics, fintech, IPOs, and bond issues. His foray into digital strategies, particularly in crafting compelling social media narratives, has allowed him to blend creativity with strategic communication on many occasions. Outside the office, Henry's life is a blend of personal passions and hobbies. From rigorous workouts at the gym and delving into mostly non-fiction books 📚 to exploring obscure knowledge online and DJing at local speakeasies and private events, these activities provide a creative outlet and balance to his professional life. One memorable day encapsulates the diversity of Henry's role: transitioning from a critical meeting on a public affairs project to rushing through the rain 🌧️ to deliver cat litter to a local celebrity’s home for a social media campaign. It's these moments, filled with unpredictability and a hint of surrealism, that highlight the dynamic nature of PR. Reflecting on his time at Corpore, it's the continuous learning and the breadth of experiences, from public affairs to digital storytelling, that Henry values. Jo Lane, Head of Product for Tony's Chocolonely, shared some incredible insight during today's The Marketing Meetup webinar. After a period of introspection, I’m thrilled to finally put pen to paper (or rather, fingers to keyboard) and share a chapter that has been quietly maturing backstage.📝 As someone deeply passionate about marketing, I’ve always strived to become the Swiss Army Knife of marketers – a versatile marketer eager to delve into new facets of this dynamic field at every opportunity, until I uncover my unique tool within its arsenal. I always believed that marketing transcended the common misconceptions of hype, manipulation, and excessive promotion, holding the potential to ignite impactful and meaningful change within it.  🧰 🔍 This conviction paved the way for a unique opportunity during my end-of-studies internship—an experience that introduced me to a distinctive facet of marketing but also reaffirmed my belief in the profound impact marketing can have. As an employer branding assistant at L'Oréal, I had the privilege of working on various projects designed to elevate the company’s brand and presence internally and externally. My contribution involved integrating marketing insights into the HR projects I either led or collaborated on with my team. We successfully improved KPIs compared to previous years, but more significantly, we made a lasting impact on our target audience through the dedicated projects we took ownership of.🌟 I must admit, It wasn’t the conventional path, but it was a path well worth taking. It offered me a fresh perspective on marketing, broadening my horizons and demonstrating the multitude of ways one can make a meaningful impact in this ever-evolving field.🌐 Gratitude overflows as I acknowledge the incredible individuals who have shaped this journey. Heartfelt shoutout to Samia Tadlaoui, a true North Star whose ownership and dedication to our growth and well-being are endlessly inspiring. To M'hamed, a guiding light whose passion and boundless mentorship have consistently fueled my path (Happy Global TA Day, by the way 🎊 😄 ). During my first day as an intern at a top fashion magazine, I was given a (verbal) list of people who I could NOT speak to in the business. The people on the list were mostly leaders. Editors, executive this, director that. Can you believe it? 🤦♀️ For someone to do their best work, they need to feel seen, heard, and valued. Not one of these. All three. Collectively. The unwritten rule that employees should be seen and NOT heard is absolute nonsense, and should have been extinct with the dinosaurs who created it decades ago. How are employees supposed to learn, grow, develop and adapt if they can’t communicate with leaders? For the record: This is NOT how you treat your employees. Obvs. At the time, I had no idea what internal comms was. But, I’m pretty sure this moment ignited my passion for IC and employee experience. I mean, how could it not, right? 🤷♀️ Fast forward 18-ish years and here we are. After being on the receiving end of some shoddy comms and leadership attitudes, I like to think I’m in a solid position to make a huge difference to how businesses communicate with their people. I’m celebrating the one-year mark today! 2023: Started as a Post-Graduate PR Intern 2024: In an AAE role in the brand department My grasp of #PR has evolved so much since I started. Who knew I’d be touching account management, influencer relations, traditional media, and event planning? As a Black man in PR, it’s meant being on the front lines of industry change. I‘ve never let a job title dictate my impact and you shouldn’t either - intern to VP. Friday the 13th of June 2008. A date forever etched in my memory. It wasn't just my graduation day; It was also filled with the superstitions surrounding "Friday the 13th." Which I had just learnt about 😲 On that day, many moons ago, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. I was certain I’d become a renowned news correspondent like the iconic Christiane Amanpour, whose work we studied extensively. But life had other plans... Did you know that approximately 50% of people make a significant career pivot at some point in their lives? My career kicked off at a communications firm, and through a management trainee programme, I found myself diving into the world of marketing. This unexpected twist led me to an incredible journey, working and learning alongside brilliant minds (too numerous to mention) at prestigious companies like Reckitt, Henkel, The Coca-Cola Company, and more. My career has been a classic example of a "squiggly" one, according to the definition of Sarah Ellis and Helen Tupper in their book ‘The Squiggly career’. It has been filled with unexpected turns and enriching experiences. Now, I’m reconnecting with my communications roots, specifically focusing on internal communications. In my experience I have found that when employees have a shared understanding of an organization’s vision, it improves belonging, boosts productivity, and fosters a positive culture. My aim for this new chapter, is to leverage my experience in marketing to contribute to this exciting field and perhaps bring a fresh perspective. The skills I've gained in strategic planning, storytelling, and digital engagement will be invaluable in crafting effective and inspiring internal communications. For anyone considering a pivot, remember it’s never too late to return to your passions or explore new ones. Embrace the journey; every twist and turn adds to your unique story. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel hosted by my fellow intern Alanis Castro-Pacheco. The purpose of this discussion was to leverage Gen Z insights and foster innovative solutions while bridging generational gaps for strategic advancement. I was privileged enough to give my perspective on the importance of authentic brand storytelling to reach a new generation of consumers. One of the questions that we were asked was, "What elements or narratives do you think are the most effective in capturing your attention and building brand loyalty?" As a Gen Z consumer brand ethos and innovation are what captivate me the most. Brands that are sharing impactful narratives are gaining traction with Gen Z, because 60% are more conscious about the fashion items they buy and what they support with their dollar. Brand narrative is essential to reaching a new generation, but it is imperative that brands remember to reintroduce themselves. While we live in a time were innovation is hard because so much has already been done. Gen Z finds comfort in nostalgia. How can brands reimagine what they have already done? A key way is to start by involving different communities. Gen Z shops where they feel seen and welcomed.
