Reflecting on an Incredible Post-Grad Internship at Weber Shandwick: I despise writing novel-length LinkedIn posts, but as much as I would love to spare you, the amount of exposure I received this summer can't be summed up in a paragraph. These past three months have been a whirlwind of growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences- here's what I've been up to: ➡ Barbie (Mattel, Inc.): Contributed to powerful campaigns, including, but not limited to, the first-ever Blind Barbie & Black Down Syndrome Barbie, Sue Bird Barbie collaboration, and the Barbie Brand Campaign for the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever WNBA game. I had the honor of owning all media materials for Barbie Dream Besties, honing my skills in media list development, brand messaging, pitching, and campaign tracking. ➡ UNO (Mattel, Inc.): Worked on the Colorblind initiative and the UNO x NFL collaboration. My role involved media audits, campaign and mailer ideation, and copy development. ➡ Danone: Supported the REMIX campaign through influencer sourcing and communications. I joined Danone’s trends engine team to track consumer trends and develop the future of all influencer mailers. In addition to working across Oikos, Light + Fit, Activia, and Too Good & Co., I contributed to Silk's campaign ideation and strategy practices. ➡ Staples: Worked on the Back to School Campaign, managing pitching, media list development, and client communications. I created the weekly Staples Round-Up, an essential internal resource for Staples Inc. employees. ➡ Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative: Contributed to the Maine Lobster Tour with influencer activations and communications. I also worked on National Maine Lobster Day and Maine Lobster Week, celebrating Maine Lobstermen and the restaurants serving Maine Lobster nationwide. ➡ Mimecast: Was immersed in a tech background by developing media lists for acquisitions and managing the weekly News Scan report. ➡ New Business: I had the chance to tap into my passion for sales by exploring pitch angles and business opportunities for iconic brands such as REI, Grillo's Pickles, Nestlé Health Science, and more. I’m excited to continue this work in the future! A huge thank you to my manager, Diala Demashkieh, for her guidance; Katlin Rice, SHRM-CP Rice for her support; and Nyla Saleh for being an inspiring role model. To the rest of the team – thank you for making this internship a valuable and memorable experience. I don't think I've ever shared an photo on LinkedIn but I recognize as a marketer that that's kind of wild. I gave a presentation today on email and content marketing best practices where I reminded my audience that people love images of other people. I guess I should walk the talk, huh? So, given that there are a lot of new folks around here, I thought I'd share one of my favorite work related acquisitions: my dog, Henry! I adopted him while in Arizona almost 10 (!!) years ago working at PetSmart's corporate headquarters. I was completing a buying internship. I liked PetSmart's culture, but did not enjoy buying. It was *not* for me. Also, Phoenix in the summer is not my favorite. Cue the comments about "but its a dry heat!" Another hot (hehe) fact: Henry was featured in PetSmart's holiday video that year. So he's famous. NBD. Anyways, that experience is actually part of why I went to grad school immediately after undergrad instead of entering the workforce. I thought I wanted to work corporate retail, in buying. I couldn't have been more wrong. My talents are best used in other ways (see: customer or lifecycle marketing, freelancing in content, email, and overall marketing strategy, guiding people towards mental health resources, eating shrimp indiscriminately...) Anyways this picture is a couple years old but here's me and Henry Roger. Embarking on a new journey is always thrilling, and my recent plunge into the world of digital marketing at Padding has been nothing short of an exhilarating adventure. Join me as I share a glimpse into my first week, where excitement collided with a touch of chaos, creating a memorable start to this incredible chapter. From the moment I walked through the doors of Padding, I knew this was the dynamic environment I had been searching for. Joining as a Digital Marketing Intern felt like stepping into a realm of endless possibilities, and my anticipation reached new heights as I embraced the challenges that lay ahead. The warmth and camaraderie among my colleagues and leaders made my onboarding experience truly special. The support and encouragement I received from day one made me feel like an integral part of the Padding family. It's a community where ideas flow, and creativity knows no bounds. Speaking of creativity, my first week was a whirlwind of excitement and learning. Juggling the responsibilities of a digital marketing intern while managing my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) commitments added an extra layer of challenge. Yet, in the midst of it all, I found inspiration in the incredible individuals around me who seamlessly balanced multiple roles. This is me hailing those multitasking superheroes who effortlessly navigate between two or three jobs – it's safe to say they are the real MVPs. Witnessing such dedication has motivated me to push my limits and strive for excellence in every task. As I reflect on my initial days at Padding, I can't help but be grateful for the opportunities that have unfolded. The combination of enthusiasm, teamwork, and a hint of chaos has made my journey here an unforgettable one. I eagerly anticipate the projects, challenges, and triumphs that await me, knowing that each day brings new lessons and experiences. Breaking the Perception Myth: The Reality of True Value As a Sales Intern at Haldiram Snacks Pvt.Ltd. , my summer internship has been an exciting journey filled with insights and creativity. A recent train trip from Guntur to Macherla, a route I’ve traveled for the past 16 years, inspired an idea for a compelling advertising campaign that I’m proud to share. Imagine this: my mother and I were standing on a train while seats were claimed as "reserved" for someone who never showed up. Eventually, we realized the seats were empty and sat down. The irony hit me when, during another journey, my mother and grandmother did the same thing to other passengers. It was a perfect metaphor for a common issue in the snack industry—perception versus reality. Our company has always been a leader in the namkeens market, thriving even without extensive advertising. However, in the western snacks category, competitors dominate by creating a perception of value with large but half-filled packets. In contrast, we provide full, generous quantities in every pack. My new ad campaign, inspired by my train journeys, aims to debunk the myth that marketing perceptions outweigh reality. Just as empty seats can be misleading, so can big snack packets with little content. We're here to shift the narrative—showcasing that real value lies in what's inside the pack. To bring this idea to life, our ad is set on a train. Passengers claim seats for absent friends, much like competitors' snack packets that promise more but deliver less. As the train departs and those seats remain empty, our message becomes clear: in reality, our snacks offer more quantity and true value compared to the deceptive perception of our competitors. This campaign is not just about selling snacks; it's about changing perceptions and highlighting authenticity. We believe in providing genuine value to our customers, and this campaign is a testament to that commitment.
