Today it was our pleasure to host the #Polaris consortium at Philips in Best. The Polaris project will realize breakthrough technology for #micro-electronic Radio Frequency (#RF) Systems and is funded through the National Growth Fund (#Nationaal #Groeifonds). Polaris brings together the existing Dutch ecosystems #radar, #MRI and #telecom. This collaboration will deliver highly innovative technology for #radically #integrated #systems, with huge potential for novel application areas. This will boost the #Dutch #economy and will lead to new #start-ups and #scale-ups. The consortium consists of large #industry, #small-and-medium #enterprises, #research institutes, #universities and Regional Development Agencies (#ROMs). The project will kick-off in September. We are very happy to tell you a bit more about #XT4Sens, a project led by IC'Alps in partnership with X-FAB and co-funded by the French State (500k€) as part of #France2030 and #FranceRelance. This ambitious project is aimed at creating design synergies between sensor interfacing (#MEMS or bio-sensors) solutions on XFab technologies in order to: - optimize performance of the complete system - boost France’s production of semiconductors by increasing the portfolio of reliable solutions This project is aimed at all #ultrasound applications requiring the integration of advanced electronics. A big thanks to Bpifrance for, once again, supporting this pivotal R&D effort towards homemade innovation.

DreamBig Semiconductor Inc. came to #ces2024 to unveil its own "Open #Chiplet Platform." What is it, who's running it, and where is their technology at? We break it down with the help of The Ojo-Yoshida Report technology editor and #digdeeperpodcast host Ron Wilson. The platform is designed to put back together these small dies (chiplets) in an advanced form of system-in-package. Wait. We found it almost ironic that the chiplet originally conceived to disaggregate SoCs in Lego-like blocks appears to be getting back into an integration race again. A big differentiator for DreamBig? 🇩🇪🇩🇪 Nexperia to invest USD 200 million to develop SiC and GaN technology at its site in Hamburg, Germany. Silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors enable power-hungry applications, such as data centres, to operate with exceptional efficiency and are seen as core building blocks for renewable energy applications and electromobility. These WBG technologies are becoming increasingly important for achieving decarbonisation goals. The first production lines for high-voltage GaN D-Mode transistors and SiC diodes started in June 2024 already. The next milestone will be modern and cost-efficient 200 mm production lines for SiC MOSFETs and GaN HEMTs.
