Michael Zolotov and I recently recorded the first episode of the Razor Labs Expert Series. 🌎 This is just a sneak peek to mark Earth Day, in which we discuss the significant invisible energy drains ⚡ that can be addressed with a new generation of condition monitoring solutions like DataMind AI. #conditionmonitoring #performancemonitoring #pumps #reliabiliy #assetmanagement #energyconsumption #mining #miningtech #miningequipment
🌍Today, we are commemorating Earth Day. As the mining industry worldwide strives for greater sustainability and efficiency, technology's role becomes increasingly crucial. ⚡️In this sneak peek of the new Razor Labs Expert Series, I talk about the low-hanging fruit of operational improvements that can significantly lower mining equipment's energy consumption. For example, pumps account for a significant portion of global power consumption. At typical mining sites, while mills might draw more power per unit, the sheer number of pumps (often over 100 at a single site) means their cumulative energy use is massive. By ensuring the performance of optimal pumps, the mining industry can prevent energy wastage, which might range from 10% to 25% of the total energy consumed by each pump, significantly reducing the ecological footprint of mining operations. By embracing technologies that offer real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, we can make substantial strides toward a more sustainable and economically feasible future in mining and other industries. #carbon #emissions #environmentalfootpring #carbonfootprint #smartenergymanagement #mining #miningequipment #miningtechnology #miningnews #ai #conditionmonitoring #performancemonitoring

Sustainable Innovations in Mining: The Impact of the 1979 Oil Crisis on IPCC System Adoption The global energy crisis of 1979 didn't just affect fuel prices, it reshaped how industries approached efficiency and sustainability. One significant shift was the increased implementation of In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) systems in the mining industry. In this chart, you can see the drastic increase in the number of IPCC systems adopted post-1979. Before the oil crisis, only 65 systems were in use, but after the crisis, this number surged to 380. This shift highlights how external pressures can drive technological innovation and more sustainable practices in industries like mining. Today, as we continue to face environmental challenges, it's crucial to revisit these milestones and explore how similar innovations can guide us toward more sustainable mining solutions. #MiningInnovation #Sustainability #IPCCSystems #EnergyCrisis #MiningSolutions #SustainableMining #TechnologicalAdvancements #Mineser # IPCC # Inpit crushing and conveying

Did you know 7 of the top 10 mining companies are currently using KETOS to monitor their water quality? With autonomous testing of 35+ parameters (including heavy metals), increased cost savings, and a modular design that integrates into existing infrastructure, KETOS is giving mining operations the power to monitor water autonomously on-site in real-time, take proactive measures against water contamination, and gain access to more robust reporting and historical data that helps them understand their water quality. The results: increased compliance and transparency, better oversight, and access to sustainability metrics that can help mines showcase their commitment to ESG. Learn more about KETOS for mining, read a case study about how one mine decreased costs by saving 20+ hours of manual labor/month and request a demo here: https://lnkd.in/g4-FGdFw #mining #waterquality #ESG #sustainability #miningtech #automation

XDLE is promoting the electrification of #mining vehicles and digital mining equipment, and introduced the world's first 220-ton mine truck oil-to-electricity conversion project. The project has been put into production and application, and it can meet the requirements of being fully charged in 1 hour, and it can be operated for more than 8 hours after being fully charged, which is perfectly matched with three-shift system of the mine truck. The conversion of 220-ton #trucks from oil to electricity can save about 5.7 million RMB(Around 0.8 million USD) of operating costs per year and more than 85 million RMB(Around 12 million USD) of costs over a 15-year life cycle. #Decarbonization #Miningtrucklifecycle #Zeroemissionmining #Sustainablemining #BESS #Climatechange

Just a few years ago, 'mining' and 'sustainability' seemed an impossible pair. Today, it's clear: mining critical minerals is an integral part of achieving net zero. But is the mining industry truly driving a comprehensive transition? I had the privilege of moderating the “Sustainable Mining” session at the Confederation of Indian Industry Global Mining Summit, with Sundara Ramam DB Shakeel Ahmad Susan Michelle Burich Lukas Paul Anoma Basu Senthil Kumaar T We discussed examples like BHP's HVO trials, Rio Tinto's solar farm, and Tata Steel's hydrogen efforts. Yet challenges remain: lack of capital management frameworks, access to affordable funding for sustainability initiatives, and resource and skill shortages. To overcome these, I emphasised three key approaches: 1. Link investments to measurable outcomes and impact metrics 2. Break down long-term goals into actionable steps that can be operational 3. Foster sustainability ownership at all levels of the organization Sustainable mining isn’t just about the environment— let's continue our efforts in co-creating a resilient future for both the industry and our community. #SustainableMining #NetZero #sustainability
