Supervision of the installation of the first Closed system in Mining in Cameroon (Kette, East Region). Under the leadership of the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, we checked this 500 tons per day gold plant to see if the parameters put in place for gold production, environmental and social impacts are in line with the norms of the states policy to improve on Environmental and Social Sustainability. With the coming in of this new technology, and with the installation of different capacities of plants in gold infested areas of the country, gold production rates would be as high as 90% and more and this would mean that, the mining sector would be pivotal in the advancement of the economy of Cameroon as a whole and in all aspects.

IRH seems to have the cash to takeover all our mining assets. My thoughts are as follows; 1. It is good that Zambia can attract such an investor with cash who can inject it in our mining assets in such a short period of time. This can help revive our mining industry. 2. The downside of this, is that we cannot put all our eggs in one basket. What if this company faces liquidity problems or collapses? Or they just decide to pull out? It will mean that one of our biggest mining assets will also collapse. We learnt a hard lesson when Anglo American Corporation pulled out of Zambia in 2002 and left us stranded! We, therefore, need to spread our risks and allow other players to take up the other assets. We can't have KCM and Mopani under one majority shareholder...

It would be interesting to know the breakdown of the 44% attributed to citizens. We ultimately need a strong manufacturing base and serious investment in R&D to create stronger linkages and fully domesticate the expenditure from mining companies.
FIRST Quantum Minerals (#FQM) country manager Godwin Beene says the mine last year directed about US$1.6 billion, which is about 88 percent of its procurement needs, to nationally registered suppliers and contractors. Speaking in Kitwe during the Mining Local Content Conference and Exposition spearheaded by the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (#ZAM), Dr Beene said out of the 88 percent, 44 percent went towards Zambian citizen-owned companies while 56 percent was for multinational organisations that are registered in #Zambia. He said the 56 percent are predominantly firms that are affiliated to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) subsidiaries or authorised distributors that affect the after-sales support and warranty conditions. Talent Account Manager at Talent Mine International - helping talent find it's place in the mining industry 🌍 EXECUTIVE SEARCH ✨ MINE SITE RECRUITMENT ✨ RPO SERVICES
This is why SAFETY is KEY!!! ⚠ Really good news to hear that all of the trapped miners were rescued from a ground collapse at the mine in Zimbabwe. This sort of news made it's way out of the mining world and across social media on X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok 📲 Unfortunately when incidents like this find its way onto media platforms, it doesn't shine the mining industry in the best light 🔦 It could be right to assume without any previous mining knowledge that THIS is what the industry is like. There needs to be more education in all areas for the mining industry: Firstly for those within - more training, opportunities and careers working safely with companies for local people 📝 Secondly for those outside - more awareness of how mining works, why we do it, why we NEED it and when to recognise safe and unsafe mining 🗣 #mining #miningindustry #miningnews #miningjobs #miningcareers #safety #zimbabwe #twitter #instagram #tiktok #socialmedia

Some of us have been pushing for Ghanaian ownership of the mining sector so that the benefit can stay in the country. However, this comes with a huge initial cost (investment). Recently, I have noticed in the media space that some well-meaning and respected individuals are trying to share their opinions on this subject by advocating for Ghanaian ownership of our Lithium assets. That is very good and what we all wish and pray for, but mining investment comes with personal interest and an appetite for risk! Most rich Ghanaians do not have the appetite for risk. Many of them prefer to send US$ 500,000 to China for goods, sell them within 3 months for an instant profit of US$ 100,000 and beyond! How will such individuals invest in mineral exploration worth several million dollars without certainty of mineralization? The mining industry is not for everyone! It is a specialized industry, so let’s get informed before we start social commentary.

The Botswana Chamber of Mines – Gaborone – Botswana The Botswana Chamber of Mines is an organisation established to serve the interests of the mining and exploration companies together with associated industries. The mining industry remains the main driver of economic activity in the country and is forecasted to sustain the economy further into the future. More exploration for minerals is taking place in the country and whilst this is a welcome development, it is essential that the progress is achieved smoothly with due regard for legislation. The Chamber of Mines aims to ensure that legislation in the country is conducive for mining companies and at the same time developing good working relationships with the legislator. The direction that this industry pursues therefore is not only significant for the mining organisations, but crucial for the country’s purported buoyancy in the world economic fora.
