Season’s greetings! It’s the most wonderful time of the year: A few quick top hits from our “Best Cities of 2024” lists: Austin, Miami, and Houston are stand-outs on next year’s retail market. Major trade hubs along the East Coast, as well as Southwestern hubs, show promising signs that are worthy consideration for industrial investors. Previous multifamily standout markets like those in the Sunbelt are giving way to other cities in the Midwest and rebounds in places like Brooklyn and Jersey City. While offices still face headwinds, these markets are seeing returns to work, especially as more offices offer enticing perks and amenities. Texas still reigns supreme in terms of upcoming land demand, with some East Coast markets worth exploring in 2024.

We tried something new in our London office today - a ‘Bring your adult to work day’ - so those close to us could see where we work: explore our redesigned office, enjoy the Friday fish and chips and check out everything that Canary Wharf has to offer! My Dad certainly loved it, particularly the #redemptionRoasters coffee at our cafe, the views across London, reading the 150 year history boards and ‘lots of interesting conversations’. With 100s of guests with us, the average age in our office was comfortably above the usual 27 today…. Thank you to our amazing facilities team and Angela Leal Bev Webb Emma Murray for all you did. #kpmguk

Succession Planning in Family Offices: Ensuring Smooth Transitions Across Generations A "just in case" plan should always be in place to ensure smooth transition across generations. While it's uncomfortable to plan for your demise, it is inevitable. Therefore, having a written and communicated plan is essential for family offices to handle the illness, incapacitation, or death of a family member or office leader. Proactive succession planning for both family and non-family leaders is crucial. A governing body or board should oversee the family office to ensure effective communication between the office and the family.
