IEMA to ISEP: Embracing the Future: A New Name for a New Era in Sustainability IEMA is poised for a significant transformation following an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to vote on a new name that reflects its growth as a professional membership organization for over 22,000 members across 125 countries. This change follows extensive member engagement, including 6,400 interactions through workshops and surveys, highlighting IEMA's vital role in the sustainability movement. Key insights revealed that: 97% of members want to uphold IEMA’s purpose as a professional body. The legacy of the current name, particularly "Institute," is cherished. 43% feel the current name doesn’t fully capture the organisation’s mission. In response, IEMA has proposed renaming itself to The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP), a choice favoured by 75% of members. This name reflects members' evolving roles and underscores a commitment to sustainability. The consensus from the members is clear: adopting the name ISEP will not only reflect a commitment to sustainability but also position the organisation as a leading voice for sustainability professionals worldwide. This significant step forward ensures that IEMA continues to thrive as a beacon of excellence for sustainability professionals everywhere. Every member's voice matters, and IEMA looks forward to shaping its future together. 🌟 Exciting to see the revival of the Shared Value concept at the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (Misum) Forum Day hosted by the Stockholm School of Economics! This time, the conversation highlighted not only the win-wins of combining business strategy with sustainability but also the trade-offs that sometimes require businesses to prioritize areas outside their sustainability focus. As companies undertake double materiality exercises for CSRD implementation, it's clear that certain critical topics, like biodiversity, are being crowded out by others. 🌳 It was inspiring to hear professors Sarah Kaplan and Patrick Bolton discuss the legacy of Shared Value and the work of thought leaders like Michael Porter, Mark Kramer, Marc Pfitzer, Nina Jais, and many others. Only a few days left to submit your proposal to the 19th EIASM Conference on 'Intangibles, Sustainability, and Value Creation : Reporting, Management, and Governance". This conference will take place at Université Grenoble Alpes and ambitions to gather scientists from all disciplines in the aim to create relevant corporate reporting measures related to Climate change, biodiversity, pollution, marine resources, circular economy, social issues and governance. If you have an expertise in how to measure phenomena related to those topics, please join us and share with us your views on how to produce a sustainable world with a sustainable reporting, which in consequence, will serve you by producing standardized data. A 2 pager abstract is expected by June 15th, full contributions are expected at the end of August.
