Recap of our latest Miratlas’ seminar Last week, a large part of our team had the opportunity to meet up in Tournon-sur-Rhône for an unforgettable seminar. 🎯 On the agenda: engaging discussions, collaborative workshops, and plenty of discussions on our future projects.💡 This seminar allowed us to strengthen our bonds, share ideas, and most importantly, work together on strategies to keep innovating and moving forward. This key moment also gave us the chance to identify upcoming challenges. After these few days in full immersion, we’re heading back more motivated and united than ever to continue our journey together. Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome Mathieu Hernandez in our IT team and Eva Loreau in our R&D team ! A big thank you to the whole team for their participation and energy. 🙌

Your company’s mission should be the invisible thread that ties every meeting together. Mission is what fuels a team's purpose. Make it tangible by weaving it into every meeting agenda. Open with the mission, bring it up when discussing strategy, and close by tying the meeting's outcomes back to it. This isn’t just a “nice to have” – it’s what keeps your team connected to why they’re there. When your mission is a regular part of team dialogue, it no longer feels distant; it becomes the reason behind every decision. At your next meeting, bring your mission to life – and see how the team’s energy shifts.

Teamwork learned from Cicadas this week: I spent a great week in Chicago this week with one of our clients and then for a team meeting. If you don't live in Chicago, you may not be aware of the volume of the 17-year cicada brood. When I say 'volume' it isn't just numbers, it is sound-level-volume. They are LOUD. It took some getting used to the noise and chaos, but once I stopped to really assess, there was a symphonic quality to the sound. How do each of their different sounds come together to sound like waves crashing on a beach? It is a good reminder to bring our voices together for aligned purpose on our teams, even when we come from different places. Check out the video of the Chicago Cicadas for an idea of what our Nova Advisory team heard this week. #NovaAdvisory #ChicagoCicadas #Teamwork

Listen Up! I have been part of so many conversations over the last few months about the importance of ‘speaking up’: a culture where providing challenge, sharing different perspectives, asking questions, raising concerns, speaking truth to power, bringing fresh thinking and ideas, and taking good risks is psychologically safe – for everyone - in an organisation. One of the things we see at Kin&Co most often is an over-reliance on systems, processes, rules, and formal communication channels to promote speaking up. While all these things are essential foundations, policies alone are not enough. In our experience, ‘listening up’ - at Exec and critically at Board level - is the secret ingredient that is most often overlooked. The sad truth is that far too often 'speaking up' can damage relationships, career prospects and job security. This means senior leaders who really want to see change and get this right for their organisations and their people are asking themselves tough and honest questions about their own mindsets, skills, behaviours an blindspots around listening up. 💡 Whose voices am I hearing now? Whose voices am I unconsciously biased to pay more attention to? Whose do I pay less attention to, and why? 💡 Do I see employees who speak up as loyal team members who want to make things better, or as ‘whiners’ who want to make things difficult. 💡 Are the micro-signals I’m sending - a full calendar, doing emails during conversations or constantly interrupting - really showing I am here to listen. 💡 If someone brings me bad news, challenges my thinking, gives me feedback, or shares a bold new idea - what is their experience? Will they feel encouraged do it again? And again? If you want to know more, we have just a couple of places left at our next workshop with the brilliant Thomas Lassetter and Beth King in June! You can find out more below! 💡
Why do we often hear from the same people? Studies indicate that teams with high psychological safety are 30%* more likely to share unique ideas. 🗣️ It's vital to foster an environment where diverse perspectives are not only heard but actively encouraged. This involves moving beyond the familiar voices and inviting everyone to contribute. Are you prepared to evolve your organisation into a place where every voice is valued and innovation is a natural outcome? Join our next 'Activating your speak up culture' workshop on 13th June, 9am-1pm. Don't miss out -- secure your spot by emailing us at info@kinandco.com *Source: Harvard Business Review
