Thanks to those who have pointed out that National Fish and Chip Day got moved from it's usual spot and brought forward a day - meaning it was yesterday, and we missed it! To be honest even had we realised it wouldn't have made the cut yesterday as there was something far more important going on. But we've gone to the trouble of tenuously linking a fish supper to recruitment, and figure at least it will stand out against all the national doughnut day posts, so we're just gonna leave it here... Today is a day of celebration, recognising tradition and culture in the form of British cuisine - the classic fish and chips 🐟🍟 There's no surprise that there's a national day dedicated to the iconic dish (after all, there's a national day for everything), and as avid fish and chip fans it would be rude not to acknowledge the importance of today with the only way we know how - by listing the similarities between fish & chips and recruiting the perfect candidate: 🧂 Ingredients matter - just like the right condiments make the meal, selecting a candidate with the right skills can make the job 🎣 The right catch - to get the best quality fish you need some appealing bait, use this to make your job ad to stand out (benefits are a good place to start) 🍴 Presentation is key - a well presented dish is an important factor, and just like a well presented candidate matters, so does an employer So if you want to tick all the boxes above and ensure you're getting the right catch for the job, then get in touch today. Those all important details are in the comments below ⬇️ hashtag #NationalFishAndChipsDay

🍦 Yesterday was National Ice Cream Day, and we celebrated by making fresh, homemade vanilla ice cream in our own kitchen. There's something special about the simplicity and authenticity of homemade vanilla – no frills, just pure, delicious goodness. This got me thinking about our approach at Edisto Consulting Group. Just like how a simple vanilla ice cream can often be the best, finding the right person for a position doesn’t always require all the bells and whistles. Sometimes, the perfect fit is the candidate who brings genuine skills, a solid work ethic, and a great cultural fit. In our recruitment process, we focus on these core qualities, ensuring our clients get access to the best talent. It’s not about how flashy the resume is, but about the real, underlying value that a candidate can bring to the table. Here's to keeping it simple and finding the perfect match, both in ice cream and in talent! 🍨 #NationalIceCreamDay #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #EdistoConsultingGroup #SimpleIsBest #nowhiring

Today, I'd like to share our insights on the perfect hiring process: how to create the best possible experience for both recruiters and applicants. I believe that the recruiting process should be efficient, transparent and reliable - giving you the best chance of finding the perfect candidate. I believe the process should involve clear communication at each stage, considering both candidates and employers. From outlining the role and responsibilities to developing a transparent assessment process, communication will ensure the best outcomes for both parties. This should include for example, providing regular and direct feedback on the candidate's performance and avoiding any forms of discrimination. 🤝 Ultimately, the focus should be on creating a positive recruitment experience for everyone as a positive hire will benefit both the recruiter and the candidate. 📝✅ #recruitingprocess #hiringexperience #candidateexperience

Bee Wilson writes a regular column on food for the Wall Street Journal. Her column this week -- "Why Cooks Shouldn't Fret About Substituting Ingredients" -- made me think of job search, oddly enough, and how job seekers, recruiters and hiring managers should think more broadly about the process. Recruiters and, more specifically, ATS systems, can think very narrowly about candidates. "The job description says X, so we need to look for X, and no substitute will do." What they may miss by only looking for candidate X is that candidates Y or Z may end up being excellent choices to meet the organization's needs. The goal of a recipe is not to rigidly find and use every ingredient listed, no matter the time or cost. The goal is (or should be) to create a meal for family and friends. The same with a job opening. The goal shouldn't be to fill the role with the candidate who ticks off every requirement in a job description, no matter the time or cost. The goal should be to find the candidate that will further the organization's goal for success -- whether it is increased market share or furthering the organization's mission or something else. Job seekers fall into the same trap. "I currently do X, so the next thing I do should also be X." What they may not realize is that the skill set that made them successful doing X may also apply very well in the fields of Y and Z. (I learned this several years into my career when I pivoted from one industry to a different one.) To paraphrase Wilson, "Cooking ... or filling an open position ... or looking for your next role ... gets so much simpler once you give yourself license to substitute ingredients ... or job candidates." https://lnkd.in/gxFZ3ZfA #jobsearch #recruiting #skillsets #onions #wallstreetjournal

Now that you're hungry... background screenings can be like frozen yogurt hear me out the more you add to your frozen yogurt, the better it'll taste right? the more searches you add to your background screening package, the more you'll be able to learn about your potential hire Sure you can stick with plain but where's the fun in that? Toss on more frozen yogurt toppings and let's chat #nationalfrozenyogurtday
