What if food brands could extend use-by-dates by a week? The current expiry dates system uses estimates of what the worst-case temperature scenario will be for the product. This is contributing to a huge amount of food waste. 83% of food waste is still edible food. Morrama | Certified B Corp worked with Mimica to help develop a label that responds to changes in temperatures conditions the food is in, giving true freshness indication through touch. To date this has been tested in the drinks market, but they are working with big retailers (read the Crowdcube to find out more...) to expand into high carbon footprint foods such as meat/fish/dairy.
