When we were engaged to lead a commercial sales build for an anticipated product approval and launch, we had one goal: Deliver. And then some. Our team stepped up to plan in-person and virtual hiring events, schedule interviews and assessments, and develop interview guides for several roles, including Areas Business Leaders, Access and Reimbursement Managers, and Neurology Account Specialists. If MediDEV t-shirts actually existed, they’d probably look better than this one. But something far more useful and valuable does exist, and that’s the MediDEV Talent Portal on the MDSI website. If you're a Medtech sales hiring manager or sales leader—particularly in ortho spine & biologics—you’ll know that hiring and retaining entry-level salespeople can be challenging. MediDEV addresses this challenge by showcasing profiles of entry-level candidates, specifically selected by MDSI as suitable for the medical device sales industry. Furthermore, all profiles listed have participated in the MDSI vocational training program “Orthopedic Spine & Biologics Sales.” MediDEV offers more than just a list of resumes. It provides access to candidate videos, assessment scores, and instructor feedback. Hiring managers can also reach out to instructors for additional insights. Access to MediDEV can be gained clicking “view my website.” As for t-shirts, they’ll just go onto the list with the non-existent coffee mugs. #mdsi #bostonbioskills #mediDEV #training #medicaldevicesales

This post is for anyone who’s early on in their Pharmaceutical Sales careers: When interviewing we may hear objections from employers like - we were looking at another candidate who has more experience. It’s important to know that this is what we go up against, much like when we sell a product in an office and try to change a doctors prescribing habit. My approach early on is stating - “I understand my tenure is short, however, my performance and work ethic outweigh this. I’ve heard from several managers that some experienced reps can be difficult to coach, that’s not the case with me - the advantage of hiring someone like me is that I am adaptable, & flexible when it comes to doing what it takes to produce business results!” Let me know if there’s another impactful/effective approach you think of when addressing these sort of obstacles. #pharmaceuticalsales #interviewing #medicalsales

The result? - 17-year career exceeding all expectations - 7-time President's Club award winner - Achieved #1 national ranking - Numerous regional and team accolades But my journey didn't stop there: - Successfully transitioned careers two more times - Made quick, significant impacts in each new role - Demonstrated adaptability and a drive to excel Now, I'm seeking my next challenge in hospital business development. The biggest challenge VP of Sales, Directors and Regional Managers within the Medical Device, Pharma and Biotech industries face is the balance between building their teams and driving revenue. It is imperative as a successful Sales leader to partner with the right firm to support your hiring initiatives. You want a partner/firm that brings: 1.)Strong network of highly qualified and previously vetted candidates 2.)Ability to streamline your interview process and support your team with interview coordination 3.)Partner that sees the "big picture" of your organization and is able to parlay this to prospective candidates and hires appropriately. 4.)Organization that will review your job postings and give honest feedback to ensure the role is clearly defined and attractive to the right talent pool. 5.) Knowledge of roles in which industry specific knowledge/skills are imperative and those upon which business/sales acumen can be a transferrable skill 6.) Expertise at asking the right questions to truly understand the motivators and potential for success of the hire 7.) Partner who understands your time constraints and is willing/able to collaborate effectively to move your hiring process forward quickly Not all recruitment firms are the same. You want to work with a trusted organization and recruitment team to support your hiring decisions. Afterall, turnover can cost your sales team $$$ if you have open territories or roles and truly impact your ability to influence client base. The right hire brings more than ability to fill a vacancy. The right hire brings credibility, trust, and longevity to your client relationships. As a recruiter with expertise spanning multiple industries, experience hiring for a variety of roles including: Sales, Leadership, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, Finance, Manufacturing, Validation, Medical Engineering I would love to connect with you!
