🎤 In an effort to attract more conferences, congresses and capacity building events to the city, in 2022 the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency launched a co-funding scheme to bolster organisers’ budgets. This is particularly attractive to organisers of events in the IT, medical, biotech and financial services sectors which may qualify for greater funding support. The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has released its statistics for international congresses held in 2023. The number of conferences held in Japan was 363, ranking 7th in the world, and the number of conferences held in Sendai by city was 15, 6 more than last year, ranking 34th in Asia and 7th among Japanese cities after Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Yokohama, Fukuoka, and Sapporo! Japan and Sendai are becoming recognized on the global stage as suitable and attractive destinations to host international conventions. The ICCA statistics are based on conferences with 50 or more local participants held in three or more countries on a regular rotating basis (excluding bilateral conferences, government conferences, and conferences sponsored by the United Nations). Dubai - lessons learned! 💡 Marta & Rafał proudly represented the JohnnyBet Team at the SiGMA World and Affiliate World Conferences. We caught up with them to gain some insights. 🔍 So here's what they shared with us: 👩🏼💼💬 Marta: In February we decided to take part in 2 conferences which took place in sunny and beautiful Dubai. We started with the SiGMA Eurasia conference which was held for 2 days. On the third day of our business trip, we took part in the next edition of the Affiliate World Conference. It's worth mentioning that it was our first visit to Dubai and we can honestly admit it was worth being there. Unique atmosphere, great events and what is crucial - we gained important and valuable contacts. What is more, we also made our potential partners aware of how beneficial the cooperation with the JohnnyBet team can be. I'm sure it wasn't our last time in Dubai! ☀️ 💬 Rafał: From an organisational standpoint, the Sigma Eurasia conference, in my opinion, subtly differed from those held in Europe. The atmosphere was more tranquil. The absence of music at the booths and around made us calm and focused, which fostered conversations with partners. Regarding the conference venue, I perceive Dubai very positively. It's a beautiful, well-maintained city with lovely weather and astonishing buildings in the background. 🌆 From a business perspective, I kindly assess the meetings held with current and new partners. As a JohnnyBet team, we had the opportunity to share more about our products, strategies, and expectations. I feel we'll see the initial results of our participation in the Dubai conferences soon. 🎉 Japan ranks 7th in ICCA’s Worldwide Rankings for 2023 and maintains the top position in the Asia-Pacific region! 🎉 The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has just released its latest Country and City Rankings for 2023. With 363 conferences, Japan has achieved 7th place in the global country rankings for congress destinations, moving up from #12 in 2022. According to the analytics, the number of conferences worldwide has recovered to 10,187 in 2023, approximately 74% of the 13,799 held in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Asia-Pacific region, Japan maintains the top position for the second consecutive year. In terms of number of conferences held by city in the Asia-Pacific region, 15 cities in Japan are ranked among the top 70, including Tokyo (3rd place with 91 conferences) and Kyoto (10th place with 41 conferences).
