Which road trip stop has spotless bathrooms, the best jerky selection on the interstate... and plentiful EV charging?? We're talking about Buc-ee's, Ltd., the iconic gas station chain that is fast becoming a strong set of #EVcharging hubs, in partnership with MN8 Energy and Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging. The chargers at Buc-ee's are part of the 400+ charging hub network that our two companies are working to deploy by 2030. Our partnership is placing hubs in key areas of #electricvehicle saturation, as well as along key travel corridors and #EV charging deserts. With chargers already operating at a dozen locations in #Texas, #Alabama, #Georgia, #Florida, #South Carolina, #Tennessee, and #Kentucky, Buc-ee's says adding EV charging is part of its push to “redefine the pit stop” and "electrify key gaps along popular travel routes to facilitate longer distance travel." Cheshire West and Chester Council are making a determined effort to promote the #transition to #electricvehicles to both residents and businesses in the borough by hosting an #EV Awareness Event in May. The Council will be holding the free ‘understanding how to transition to electric vehicles in business and at home’ event at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on Tuesday 21 May from 8am – 2pm. The first two hours will be a conference aimed specifically at businesses, after which the event will open to the public. The council explain the motivation for such an event: ‘We are aware that many businesses and residents are looking to switch to electric vehicles (EV) as part of their net zero ambitions. But navigating this route is not easy and there are many details to understand. ‘The purpose of the event is to provide businesses and residents with essential advice around transitioning to EV. Key opportunities on the day will include test drives, both commercial and domestic, forthcoming vehicle releases and the opportunity to speak to those leading the transition to EV, such as SP Energy Networks, Energy Savings Trust and major local employer, Stellantis.’ Topics covered in conference sessions will be: EVs & business benefits Understanding EV charging options and grants for business Getting power to EVs Cheshire West and Chester Council charging update Transitioning to EVs – local business case studies How EVs are part of a business energy audit around #renewables Transitioning to an EV factory There will also be separate sessions after the conference closes, covering topics such as salary sacrifice and #electricHGV transition. #Stellantis will also be presenting on how their Ellesmere Port plant has been remodelled to support EV production. A number of local car dealers will be present and visitors will be encouraged to take a test drive in one of their electric vehicles. There will also be an exhibition element to the event, with around 20 local and leading EV-related businesses on hand in the exhibition hall to give specific advice and respond to questions. The council expect demand will be high for the event, so entry for the business breakfast element is by (free) ticket only and places are limited. There is no need for tickets for entry to the event after 10am. #Cheshire West and #Chester Council has recently secured a £2 million Electric Vehicle Charging Grant which they intend to use to install around 600 chargers, with approximately 300 in car parks and 300 on-street locations across the borough. The initial installation phase will start in late 2024 and is expected to take around five years.

“Pumped Up: What's the Future of the #GasStation in an #ElectricCarCentric World ? The place where you top up your car's tank is being reinvented to stay relevant in a big, big way.” Tim Stevens Writer - Ryan Lugo Photographer - Jun 27, 2024 “The humble gas station has evolved massively over the past 140 years or so, from the earliest days when you had to pull around behind a pharmacy to get a fill-up to the sprawling temples of transportation that festoon our highways today.” “Modern #fillingstations , or #travelcenters as they're increasingly known, are much more than places to fuel your car and yourself. With #electricvehicles taking an increasing percentage of the market, you might think the days of the filling station are numbered.” “Signs are pointing to the opposite being true. Most #electriccar owners charge at home most of the time, but destination charging is still an important part of the #EV experience.” “And because even the fastest chargers and quickest cars can take upward of 20 to 30 minutes to top up on electrons, that gives #EVowners more time to kill—and, crucially, to spend. What's the future of the gas station? Let's take a look at what's coming down the road.” https://lnkd.in/egJ_bJG7? Source - original post Read all my posts #MariusPreston

Some unique circumstances in Hawaii where electric vehicles make a lot more sense than other states. #cnbc #hawaii #electricvehicles #autos #cars #gasoline What’s going on in Hawaii that’s leading to more consumers opting for EVs? It’s a mix of things but mainly high fuel costs, the availability of renewable energy for charging and culture, according to Ivan Drury, director of insights at auto research firm Edmunds, who lives in Waikiki on Hawaii’s Oahu Island. “There is a higher sense of responsibility towards stewarding the land versus most mainland states. If you look up ‘Aina’ in Hawaiian, you see what I mean, lots of pride for the land,” he said. Drury also said the popularity of hybrid models in the state (at 19% in 2023) has helped in the switch to EVs, and road trip concerns – a hurdle for some buyers in the U.S. – aren’t really a problem in Hawaii. https://lnkd.in/eibPacAu

Australia is long overdue in adopting new vehicle efficiency standards. Australian consumers are right to be confused as the global car industry is at odds with itself this week in the wake of the new vehicle efficiency standard (NVES) proposed by the federal government. ISF Research Director Dr Scott Dwyer lent his expertise on the matter and wrote an opinion piece for The Guardian today. Dr Dwyer highlights the significance of this move in aligning Australia with 85% of the world. The NVES sets a limit on average annual carbon emissions from each car manufacturer, driving them to prioritise lower-emission models. The new policy will encourage carmakers to bring a growing number of efficient models into the country and increase choice for consumers. Despite concerns from the car industry about potential costs, the NVES is a crucial step toward a cleaner and more sustainable future for Australia's transport sector. Insightful read from Sky News highlighting the decline of the UK's market share in the EV sector. The article touches on several compelling factors; however, it overlooks a critical challenge: the obstacles faced by EV drivers who depend on on-street parking. This is a significant barrier for those who wish to transition from ICE vehicles to EVs. The innovative Gul-e solution could play a pivotal role in facilitating wider EV adoption, addressing these challenges head-on. Gul-e brings convenience and access to cheaper electricity rates compared to public charging for people without a driveway. #SustainableTransport #ElectricVehicles #Gul-e https://lnkd.in/eZwUNwdg
