The World Recognises the Quality of Gayo Coffee The quality of Gayo coffee has been recognized worldwide as one of the best, receiving an official certificate of quality in 2010. Additionally, farmers are currently developing three varieties of Gayo coffee: Gayo 1, Gayo 2, and P88, which have also been recognised globally as top-quality coffee. Various Types of Gayo Coffee Gayo coffee comes in several types, including: Bergendal Bergendal is a type of Gayo coffee that falls under the Arabica category. The name Bergendal comes from the Dutch words "Berg" (mountain) and "Dal" (valley). This coffee is grown in the Bener Meriah plantations in Aceh, at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,500 meters above sea level. It has a slightly fruity taste with herbal and spicy notes and low acidity. Rambung Rambung coffee is another type of Gayo coffee, known for having the largest beans among other Arabica coffees grown in the Gayo highlands. Rambung coffee grows quickly and requires more land for cultivation. Sidikalang Sidikalang Gayo coffee grows at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level and has a long lifespan with proper care and processing. Lini Ethiopia As part of Gayo coffee, Lini Ethiopia has varying flavors depending on its growing location. It is an Arabica variety that first entered Indonesia in 1928. Timtim Arabusta This type of Gayo coffee is a cross between Arabica and Robusta, originally grown in East Timor. After the 1980s, Timtim Arabusta was brought to the highlands of Aceh for further development. The Best Ways to Enjoy Gayo Coffee There are several methods to enjoy Gayo coffee, such as using the V60 or pour-over technique, a French press, a Vietnamese drip, or an AeroPress.
