Ever since I was a child, looking up at the night sky, I've been captivated by the stars – to this day. Those luminous points in the sky represent both the dreams of humanity and the ultimate frontier for exploration. 🌌✨ And then, voilà! Just when I was pondering my next grand adventure, contemplating how to elevate not just my career but my entire perspective on what’s possible, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced they are opening applications to #BeAnAstronaut. This isn’t just about leaving the planet; it's about embracing the ultimate challenge, diving into the unknown, and being part of something far bigger than any one of us. It's about the pursuit of knowledge, the advancement of human capabilities, and the exploration of the final frontier. 🚀🌍 But beyond the allure of space and the prestige of joining an elite group of explorers, this opportunity speaks to a deeper calling. It’s a reminder that sometimes, to find our place in the universe, we must dare to leave the comforts of home and venture beyond. For those who have ever dared to dream big, looked at the stars, and saw not just light, but possibility - this is your moment. Let’s carry this #MondayMotivation beyond our earthly confines and into the cosmos. Whether or not space is in my immediate future, I'm inspired by the reminder that our potential is as limitless as the universe itself. To everyone contemplating the next giant leap in their careers: remember, the sky is not the limit; it's just the beginning. 🌠 #BeAnAstronaut #DreamBig #SpaceExploration #CareerGoals
Have you looked all around the world for your dream job? Maybe it's time to look beyond. Applications to #BeAnAstronaut are open: https://lnkd.in/gqWVQJMJ #MondayMotivation

I live in #Houston. I've lost power 3 times this year - #Beryl was the latest. I've relied on the helpful community for critical information on where to find gas, food, etc. but there's opportunity to make this easier and better. I've been working on a mobile app concept - crowdsourced information during a disaster to find relief services and to conduct large-scale damage reports. Centerpoint uses 600 inspectors to conduct damage assessments - imagine what 6M+ citizen inspectors in the Greater Houston area could do. With image recognition AI to assess damaged grid structures, LLMs to interpret and analyze descriptions of damages, classification algorithms to label damage reports by severity, regression models to analyze historical restoration times, we can deploy millions of inspectors to gather data and speed up restoration time. With rapid and precise locational data collection, it should also provide nearby citizens with rough estimates on how long it will take for power to be restored in their area, so they can make decisions on what to do. At the very least, we can make it easier for people to find help instead of exhausting hours reading dozens of social media threads. If there's enough interest, I'll figure out how to get the funding and resources to get it built. Join waitlist: https://lnkd.in/gRke6yi4 Repost and share to get the word out.

“Working for the government is boring.” Ok…then explain THIS. 👇 To prepare for the winter season, our crews conducted the annual testing of the avalanche mitigation equipment in Big and Little Cottonwood and Provo Canyon. Last season we experienced, and triggered, a record number of avalanches. We know you know about the Howitzer (big cannon, hard to miss), but did you also know we use remote avalanche control systems (RACS) to trigger avalanches? The Howitzer and RACS are just a few tools we use to trigger planned avalanches that help keep canyon roads safe in the winter. We’ll see what this season holds, but have no doubt our equipment is locked, loaded, and ready for whatever snow throws our way. P.S. we’re #hiring. Not for this position, but all our other jobs are cool too. 😉 Check out our open positions at https://lnkd.in/gd_dxQn. #TeamUDOT
