Discover the meaning behind the 2024 NAIDOC Poster💫 As CDEs, you have a unique opportunity to amplify the cultural significance of NAIDOC Week through the powerful 2024 National NAIDOC Poster. The poster, titled "Urapun Muy", was created by Torres Strait Islander artist Deb Belyea. In the Torres Strait Islander Kalaw Kawaw Ya dialect, "Urapun Muy" translates to "One Fire".🔥 This title "pays homage to Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal people everywhere, as we all have that one fire: our passion for our culture," explains Deb. As Deb says, "Culture is the fire that gives us knowledge, wisdom and purpose. It is our responsibility to maintain, practice, and pass on our fire to our future generations."🔥 By engaging with and sharing the deeper meaning behind the 2024 NAIDOC Poster, let's spread this message and ensure that we pass on the fire, too.🙌 💭What other ways can CDEs meaningfully participate in and support NAIDOC Week? It's NAIDOC week, and this year's theme is Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud, and Proud. This years theme focuses on celebrating the cultural resilience of First Nations people, their profound connection to the land and traditions, and their pride in their First Nation identity. "It embodies our purpose, calling us to celebrate and honour the strength and vitality of our cultures." As an organisation, we have been putting to task the recommendations from NAIDOC - here’s three things you can do: - Check your local council for events: https://lnkd.in/dexeVKVM - If you cannot attend an in-person event, here are other ways to participate: Follow and engage with First Nations creators online, attend online events, and watch movies and shows featuring First Nations stories. Learn the traditional names of the land you live on and its owners. - Follow, like and share some cool people who are posting interesting content, here are some of our favourite current and upcoming leaders: https://lnkd.in/gy8U6aks https://lnkd.in/gfmX8dD5 https://lnkd.in/g3_q2HB #NAIDOC24 #BLAK #keepthefireburning #impactinvesting #indigenousknowledges

Celebrating Europride loud & proud! 🤍🩶🩵💙💜🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩶🤍 The Employment Equality Directive is the legislation created by the EU in order to combat sexual orientation discrimination by banning discrimination in access to and conditions of employment. Both private and public sectors of all Member States have been expected to implement this Directive more than 20 years ago. The reality in the workplace is that there is still hesitation to express their sexual identity and sexual orientation by community members due to fear of negative cosepquences. Such aversive experiences may lead to lower productivity rates and, most importantly, negative emotions and job satisfaction. Therefore, it is vital to continue to strive for and cultivate a truly inclusive workplace environment for all. 🤍🩶🩵💙💜🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩶🤍 #europride2024 #pridemonth #pride #lgbtqirights #equality #diversity #inclusion

Today, as we honor International Romani Day, it’s an opportunity for us, especially in Romania—a European country with a significant Romani population—to reflect on the rich cultural heritage and the challenges faced by the Roma community. The Romani people have been an integral part of Romanian society for centuries, contributing significantly to the cultural, artistic, and social fabric of the nation. From music and dance to crafts and traditions, the influence of the Romani culture is a testament to the vibrant diversity that enriches our country. However, despite their profound contributions, the Roma have faced and continue to confront systemic challenges and discrimination. International Romani Day is not just a celebration; it's a call to action. It's a day to acknowledge the resilience of the Romani people in the face of adversity, to champion the cause for their rights and inclusion, and to commit to dismantling the barriers that hinder their participation in society. Romania, with its substantial Romani population, has a pivotal role in leading by example, promoting policies that ensure equality, respect, and opportunities for all its citizens, irrespective of their ethnic background. As we celebrate today, let’s remember the importance of dialogue, understanding, and collaboration in fostering an inclusive society where diversity is celebrated, and everyone has the chance to thrive. Let's commit to education, to overcoming prejudices, and to creating a future where the Roma are recognized not only for their heritage but also for their potential to shape a brighter tomorrow for Romania and beyond. #InternationalRomaniDay #Diversity #Inclusion #CulturalHeritage #SocialJustice #EqualityForAll #Romania In conclusion, International Romani Day serves as a poignant reminder of the richness that diversity brings to our lives and the continuous journey towards equity and inclusion. By embracing the cultural heritage of the Romani people and addressing the challenges they face, we can build a stronger, more vibrant society that values and celebrates the contributions of all its members.
