At Advisory 83, we know that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are under more scrutiny than ever, with detractors pushing back against its importance. But here’s the truth: DEI is not a trend, and it’s not going anywhere. It remains essential to innovation, growth, and sustainable progress. As we celebrate National Diversity Month this October, we commit to diving deeper into how DEI shapes stronger workplaces and builds equitable communities, even in the face of opposition. Alongside our clients and partners, we continue to drive change and embrace the power of belonging. Together, we’re building a future where inclusion wins. #NationalDiversityMonth #DEI #Advisory83 #GlobalDiversity #InclusiveLeadership

Join Us for the 5th Annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference in Charlotte! We’re thrilled to announce the City of Charlotte's fifth annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference, happening from September 29 to October 2. When you hear "DEI Conference," race and gender often come to mind, but this event is so much more. We're expanding the conversation to include recruitment strategies, legal frameworks, cultural diversity, and human relations. Our workplaces are evolving, and so must we. The theme, “Bridging Perspectives, Empowering Change with Intentional Inclusion,” speaks directly to this need. Sticking to the familiar can be tempting, but true growth comes when we step outside our comfort zones. Continuing to do things "the way they've always been done" can stifle innovation and progress. We all know that repeating the same actions and expecting different results is the very definition of insanity. This conference is more than just a dialogue—it’s a catalyst for change. We'll explore how to dismantle organizational and personal barriers, paving the way for true inclusion and sustained success. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of the conversation that will shape the future of our workplaces. 👉 Register today: Eventbrite Link #DEI #Leadership #Empowerment #IntentionalInclusion #CharlotteEvents #DiversityMatters

During #WomensHistoryMonth, we are spotlighting some of the amazing women who work at #SKDK, #Sloane, and #Jasper and their accomplishments. Carly R. is an Associate at Sloane & Company, based in New York, working across a broad range of industries, with a strong focus on media relations and corporate communications. Prior to joining Sloane, Carly was an Account Executive at BCW Global in its New York Corporate Affairs practice where she specialized in public affairs and crises and issues management, working with a wide range of clients across highly regulated industries, including pharmaceutical, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, communications infrastructure and more. Born and raised in Florida, Carly graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a minor in Communication Studies. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-NY) as Vice President, Big Apple Awards. What does Women’s History Month mean to you? Women’s History Month is a time for us to celebrate and remember the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and honor their resiliency and commitment to progress and equality. Specifically, for us in PR, Women's History Month holds special significance because it provides an opportunity to celebrate trailblazing women who have shaped the field. Additionally, it is a reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusion within our industry and how we must elevate women from all backgrounds and experiences. What advice do you have for younger women in the workplace? This is something that I struggle with, but do not be afraid to speak up and take up space. You deserve a seat at the table just as much as everyone else, and most of the time they are genuinely interested and grateful for your input and perspective! Let go of the idea of perfectionism and allow yourself grace when you make mistakes—that’s how you grow. Tell us about a woman leader you admire and why? I have always really admired female entrepreneurs who are passionate and willing to take risks. Sara Blakely, Founder of SPANX, is a great example of this; she transformed a brilliant concept—a versatile, slimming undergarment that challenged similar options available at the time—into not just a career, but an empire. From her humble beginnings as a full-time salesperson working on her product late at night out of a spare apartment bedroom, she worked to grow the company into what it is today: a $1.2 billion business with products used by millions of women across the globe. Her story exemplifies entrepreneurship, determination and the power of believing in yourself and your ideas.

NEWS THAT MAKES ME UNHAPPY: Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in the workplace have been coming under increased scrutiny. Sadly, this is causing some companies to pull back from their DEI efforts in the face of concerns regarding shareholder activism and potential pushback from investors or customers. NEWS THAT MAKES ME HAPPY: My colleagues at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) aim to continuously advance DEI in the 50+ countries where we operate, and each year for the past four years our US team publishes a report on its progress. Today, I’m pleased to share BCG’s fourth annual US Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion report— which is both a reflection and a roadmap of our ongoing DEI journey. This year's report highlighted encouraging progress and some honest reflections. A few of our achievements from last year included: ▶We recruited a highly racially diverse group of new BCG employees, with 55% of new hires identifying as Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian, Native, American/Indigenous, and/or two or more races ▶Since 2020, over 800 of BCG’s senior leaders in North America have participated in the Groundwater Immersive Program to learn more about systemic racism, including 278 this year ▶We achieved a perfect score on DisabilityIN’s Equality Index and on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index ▶We reinforced our firm's commitment to inclusion, including announcing a global pledge to combat antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of discrimination A big thank you to Sharon Marcil, Michael Book, Ian Pancham, and Lissa Wilson Filose for your continued efforts and commitment to this DEI work in the US. If you would like to learn more about our DEI journey in the US, take a look at our report and see what we’ve been up to! https://lnkd.in/gsrEhqPd #BCG #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion

DEI Integrated Into All Aspects of a Company As seen in Hunt Scanlon Media's recently released 2024 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Report, at its core, building a values-driven company lays the foundation for any successful hashtag#diversity, hashtag#equity, and hashtag#inclusion strategy. "By having diverse representation, inherently you have diversity of thought at the table,” according to Ruben Moreno, CEO of Blue Rock Search, LLC. “And there’s no one that’s ever going to argue that having diversity of thought at the table doesn’t lead to better business decisions. Nevertheless, in order to access the better business results that come through diversity, you must have a holistic strategy that becomes the fabric of who your company is and what your company does over the long term by building the strategy into the business plan, rather than thinking of it as a separate and distinct issue to address.” To read more, and download the full report, please visit: https://lnkd.in/einkZSTT Special thanks to our co-sponsor: Blue Rock Search, LLC
