The case for deep tech startups: It has never been easier to build one. Leo's article is great – I highly recommend reading it! When you look at the largest companies today, many of them are based on some fundamental innovation in software (like Google PageRank) or hardware (like Nvidia GPUs) – in other words, what was considered 'deep tech' at the time Also on this side of the Atlantic, deep tech startups like H2 Green Steel, Isar Aerospace, IQM Quantum Computers, Helsing, Wayve, and many more have become powerhouses for technical talent with startup experience Serial founders like Amar Shah (founder and ex-CEO of Wayve) are investing in and advising the next generation of deep tech startups And new deep tech funds emerged in the past years, like Lunar Ventures (where I worked previously), Inflection.xyz, Possible Ventures, Positron Ventures, Unruly Capital, Silicon Roundabout Ventures, First Momentum Ventures, and many more (SquareOne Venture Capital published a more complete list of European deep tech VCs here: https://lnkd.in/e3hZ_WFM) We're going to see a lot more amazing deep tech in the future 🚀

#Topics Google Acquired Israeli Data Integration Startup Equalum [ad_1] In an apparent strategic expansion of its data integration capabilities, Google acquired Israeli data beaming startup Equalum. Unannounced, but estimated to have closed in June 2023, the acquisition marks Google’s ninth acquisition of an Israeli startup, following notable acquisitions like Siemplify and BreezoMeter in the 2022. The financial details of the Equalum deal remain undisclosed, without comment from Equalum, but StartupHub.ai estimates suggest a purchase price in the tens of millions of dollars.Founded Nir Livneh, Erez Alsheich, Idan Danai and Ofir Manor in 2015, Equalum specializes in building data pipelines that facilitate real-time and batch data processing. Their technology integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure, enhancing data transformation and synchronization.Equalum’s most recent Series C funding round in August 2022, totaling $14 million, brought its total funding to $45 million. Investors in Equalum include Planven Entrepreneur Ventures, United Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, GE Ventures, Saints Capital, Springtide Ventures. Is Deep Tech the next big thing? Deep Tech is mostly a question of how to build > how to sell This is because it involves solving highly challenging technological problems. Indian deep-tech startups raised $1 B in 2021-2023. Compare this to the USA where this amounts to $300 B in 2021-2023. A 300X factor. India is a software-centered country but recent advancements in startups solving deep technology are encouraging. With more capital inflow to this sector in India this industry is destined to grow.
