Memorial Day is a time to reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I am a second-generation Italian American. My grandfather immigrated to the United States for a better life for his family in the “land of opportunity,” a huge risk all immigrants share. My father, mother, brother-in-law’s father, Sam Yoshihara, and my father-in-law, Don Heath, all served in WWII. They all embodied faith, took risks (real bullets, real death), and showed empathy in fighting against tyranny and oppression (both outside and in the United States). Their sacrifices are a powerful reminder, 'To whom much is given, much is expected.' We are the beneficiaries of their sacrifices and faith. We must use these blessings to create positive change. Are we actively seeking positive change, or are we complacent? Are we willing to take the same risks our predecessors did to stand against tyranny? Are we empathetic to the struggles of others, or are we self-centered and inflexible in our viewpoints? Their sacrifice was for positive change—to improve the world for their families and everyone. On Memorial Day, we honor sacrifice, but the best way to honor sacrifice is to take action — in your faith (in God and country), embrace risk (look forward), and show empathy to others daily. #MemorialDay #ItalianAmerican #Honor #Change #Sacrifice

"Salute to America 250: HONOR and GLORY" appears to be an event or celebration related to commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. While I don't have specific information on this event as of my last update, I can provide a detailed description based on the general themes of patriotism, honor, and celebration typically associated with such occasions. "Salute to America 250: HONOR and GLORY" likely aims to honor the history, heritage, and achievements of the United States over the past 250 years. Here's a detailed description of what such an event might entail: Wanna see the details>>CLICK HERE<<

We live in an era of great confusion and disappointment with governance and a general dissatisfaction in our representation in OUR government. Allow me share some memorable advice my granma used to share to me- "things seem to always get worse before they get better", or even more shared, "It's always darkest right before dawn". The idea of "America" was that of a "great experiment", at a time where entire nations were either ruLED by a monarchy or were empires were RULED by emperors, a group of enlightened people conceptualized the idea of a nation ruled by the people. They even postulated a number of scenarios in that! Some were unrealistic, some were marginally laughable. But the concept was so appealing, men were willing to die for it. In the decades around what we today know as America's "Independence Day", this nation developed a principle that would be used over and over in many other lands on this planet. Back to today- I try to remember the advice from my granma when I understand that the experiment is still running, because the settings were never potted in epoxy- Lest we forget that those enlightened people considered that times would change, society would change and thus governance should be able to change to support that change. I won't waste your time talking about the things we should have learned in our civics classes in school, but consider those now... As we celebrate our Independence, let us also remember that the cost of FREEDOM is NEVER FREE- When we are a military protecting the homeland from external influences that would compromise the autonomy of our nation's governance or it's people's freedoms, OR safety. Or, a citizen that understands that we are not expected to leave the governance of our country to someone else, but that a government "Of, WE the People" means that what we have is the product of our contributions, or lack there of... Make America what you expect it to be, make YOUR contributions to it- participate in the government of it, scrutinize the abilities and effectiveness of those you choose to represent you in government, consider what happens to the governance as that representative exploits your representation- we are NOT choosing leaders here folks- we are CHOOSING those that REPRESENT our expectations in the governance of this "Nation built on the GREAT EXPERIMENT... Happy 4th of July- Let Freedom Ring!

This is what Britain's ancestors looked like. Meet Cheddar Man. He is Britain's oldest complete skeleton, 10,000 years old and a window into the first modern Britons and Western European hunter-gatherers. Groundbreaking DNA analysis found that he had dark skin, blue eyes and dark curly hair. Why bring him up? Because we're living in a world where words are more powerful than knowledge. Words like 'indigenous', ‘native’ to describe 'real' Brits and 'savages', 'barbarians', 'third-worlders' to describe brown and black people. These words fuel more than the narrative of an invasion, they signal a perceived superiority over people of colour. I’ve come accross them more and more the last few months. Now microaggressions are turning into macroaggression. Words matter now more than ever. So again, this is Cheddar Man. This is what some of the first modern Britons looked like. Love to all, please keep safe. #UKRiots #FaragesRiots #FarageRiots #Brits #Britain #UK #Knowledge #Growth
