Today is International Yoga Day, and people worldwide will be striking warrior poses to celebrate. In this corner of the world, Mosaic recognizes yoga as a powerful tool for improving physical and mental well-being and can be especially beneficial for those with a cancer diagnosis. “Yoga helps cancer patients, and survivors by reducing fatigue, improving sleep and decreasing pain,” says Jess Bledsoe, Mosaic physical therapy assistant and yoga instructor. “Additionally, it supports mental health by decreasing anxiety and enhancing overall emotional well-being.” Mosaic Cancer Care offers free yoga classes every Tuesday from 4 – 5 p.m. in St. Joseph. It is open to any current or past patient, family member, caregiver or friend. Call (816) 271-7017 to make a reservation. Check out other cancer-related events at https://lnkd.in/gk4iQDxW.

Understanding the Nervous System and Trauma: Healing Through Trauma-Informed Yoga. Did you know that trauma, especially from sexual assault, can deeply impact the nervous system? Understanding these effects is the first step towards healing. **Hyperarousal (Fight or Flight):** This response gears your body up to confront or escape threats, leading to anxiety and stress. **Hypoarousal (Freeze or Collapse):** This response causes your body to shut down, leading to numbness and disconnection. **Trauma-informed yoga** can help regulate these responses, promoting relaxation, grounding, and mindful movement. By creating a safe space and fostering empowerment through choice and consent, we can support each other on the path to healing. Join us as we explore these healing practices and support each other in finding peace and empowerment. Subscribe to our email list for upcoming events and weekly newsletters! https://lnkd.in/e7hWrM2X
