Celebrating 100 years of child rights! 🙌 This week we'll highlight five key ways children’s lives have improved since 1924. While significant progress has been made, we must also address current trends that threaten to reverse these hard-won rights. 5️⃣ The fifth way children's lives have improved: Children Are Speaking Out About Their Rights! 🌟 Gone are the days when children were told to be "seen and not heard." Today, young voices are making waves, urging policymakers to address crucial issues like the climate emergency and children's rights. Their calls for action are reshaping public and political agendas! Last year, we empowered over 14,200 children across 40 countries to lead campaigns for a greener, fairer future as part of our Generation Hope initiative. These young activists raised their voices at important forums, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals summit and COP, holding world leaders accountable. At Save the Children, we believe in amplifying children’s voices and supporting them to claim their rights. However, children tell us more must be done. COP Simulation delegate Millie, 12, said she had enjoyed people sharing their ideas on climate change, including their thoughts and the things they thought would be important to change. “I think that we should definitely try to reduce how much rubbish and like pollution and stuff that we're putting into the environment.” Let’s continue to listen, support, and act for the future these children envision! 💪 Learn more about our work: https://lnkd.in/gEM5jd2Y #ChildVoices #SaveTheChildrenNZ #GlobalProgress #GenerationHopeNZ

Earth Day 2024 is a day to highlight feminist climate justice activists across the world. Global Fund for Women supports activists and movements working toward climate justice. But what is climate justice? 🌊 Climate justice centers the lived realities and grounded knowledge of communities most impacted by—and least responsible for—the climate crisis, such as rural and Indigenous communities and those in countries recovering from long histories of extraction, colonialism, and military conflict. 🌍 Climate justice is grounded in intersectionality, recognizing that the struggle for a just and sustainable future is deeply connected to struggles for racial justice, gender justice, immigration justice, and so many more. 🔥 Climate justice is intergenerational, centering the voices of young people who are rallying for their own sustainable futures and fostering solidarity with older generations. 🌱 Climate justice resists Band-Aid solutions and emphasizes addressing the root causes of injustice. Keep your notifications on this week—we will be featuring feminist climate justice movements and activists who are leaders with solutions to the unequal effects of the climate crisis.

The climate crisis is terrifying. We’re all constantly dealing with the anxiety of that reality. In my struggles with climate anxiety, I’ve come to find that the only thing that really helps is taking action. But how do we take action on a problem that feels so big? The good news is that taking action locally can actually have dramatic positive impacts. Which is where the Intersectional Environmentalist Database comes in. We’ve compiled a central hub for 500+ incredible grassroots environmental justice organizations across the US. You can search by location, cause, identity, and topic to find organizations fighting for everything from environmental justice in frontline communities to sustainable solutions led by Indigenous voices. Please check it out, donate your time or resources to a cause you care about, and tackle those feelings of doom with hope directly from the people around you! What orgs should we add next? #Intersectionalenvironmentalism #volunteer #Empowerment #EJforAll #Local #ClimateJustice #Grassroots #Changemaker #Sustainable #CommunityCare #environmentalism #connection

Each year for Women's History Month, TIME honors extraordinary leaders who are working toward a more equal world. We are so excited to see Jacqueline Patterson, Founder and Executive Director of The Chisholm Legacy Project among this year's Women of the Year honorees. The mission of the Chisholm Legacy Project is rooted in the Just Transition Framework. The project serves as a vehicle to connect Black communities on the frontlines of climate justice with resources to traverse the path from vision to strategy to action plan to implementation to transformation. In support of frontline leadership, the project seeks to link movements and mainstream entities with the tools necessary to advance systems change centered in equity and justice. With Black women on the frontlines of advancing systems change, this project ensures that these leaders have the support they need as they transform society from extractivism to a living economy that cares for sacred relationships between people and with Mother Earth, through regenerative, cooperative, democratic systems. "Environmental issues, poverty, racial discrimination, and gender inequality all intersect to create intractable challenges. And often nonprofits bite off just one of those pieces. Jacqui Patterson’s organization is taking them all on where they intersect. Her approach is at once obvious and revolutionary." #ClimateJustice #ClimateSolutions #WomensHistoryMonth

Well done to the joint effort between @OneEarthGeneration and @GhettoRadio895FM for paving the way towards inclusive climate education and advocacy! It's heartening to see such platforms giving a voice to our young climate champions. Inclusion of children and the younger generation in environmental education is pivotal, especially as we face devastating impacts from extreme weather disasters globally. By amplifying their voices, we not only empower them but also give them the power to hold leaders and the older generation accountable for their action or inactions. @OneEarthGeneration will continue working in collaboration with others to prioritize inclusion of Children and youth engagement in shaping a more sustainable future for all. #InclusiveClimateAction #OneEarthGeneration#ClimateEducation"

#EarthDay is our reminder of the ongoing fight for climate justice. People of color are disproportionately affected by climate change and environmental crises. At Fenton, sustainability and social justice are inextricably linked, and actual progress can only be achieved when we address these issues holistically.
