Italian concept - the Lamborghini Cala! At the 65th Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini unveiled the Cala as concept car. It was designed by Italdesign in a collaborative effort with Lamborghini. Originally, it was meant to replace the Jalpa and sit next to the Diablo in their model range. Unfortunately, the car was never put into production. The Cala was powered by a 4.0L V10 engine, producing roughly 400hp. That was mated to a 6-Speed Manual gearbox. The chassis was aluminum and the body was hand-built out of carbon fiber. Performance put the 0-60mph under 5 seconds and the top speed at 181mph. It wasn't until 2003 that Lamborghini had their actual Jalpa successor in the Gallardo. Some 15 years later. However, the Cala remains one of those concept/prototypes that opened the door for Lamborghini to forge ahead with an entry-level V10 supercar. Some cars turn heads, others command your attention - and few cars command that attention quite like the McLaren F1! The McLaren F1 has reached mythic status in automotive history. It is the brainchild of Gordon Murray, with design help from Peter Stevens. A car built to ignite every sense while behind the wheel. It set a production car top speed record of 240.1mph at the time and on the track, it took home the coveted win at Le Mans in dominating fashion. Each example is inherently special in its own right. However, a handful of them raise the bar even higher. This is one of them. What you see here is chassis 018. In 2000-2001, 018 was sent back to McLaren's MSO to get a substantial upgrade/refit. At this time, the High Downforce Kit (HDK) was installed, making it one of only 9 road cars to receive this upgrade. The finish was changed from Midnight Blue Pearl, to Platinum Silver Metallic. A full GT-spec interior was fitted, with the Black Leather being re-trimmed to a Cream with Beige and Brown Leather. Many other creature comforts were added as well. Though what makes this chassis even more special, is the fact it is only one of two road examples that was given the LM-Spec 680hp engine (the other example being chassis 073). The same engine was was present in the GTR race car as well, but unrestricted to produce more power. Truly phenomenal. Chassis 018 was originally delivered to a customer in Japan, but eventually found itself in the hands of New Zealander Andrew Bagnall. He owned it for over a decade, until it was sold for $19.8 million at the Sotheby's Auctions in 2019. Today, 018 would fetch much higher. The fate of the Lamborghini Huracan has been set in stone for a while now, and we know a replacement is in the works, but Lamborghini’s V-10 masterpiece wasn’t going down without a fight, with a final model being this Huracan STJ. Limited to just 10 examples worldwide with a unique aerodynamics package, and performance straight from the Huracan STO, we can say without a doubt that this is the most extreme road-legal Huracan ever built. This is it, folks; we’re finally looking at the very last iteration of the Huracan before Lamborghini reveals an all-new supercar later this year. It joins a long list of other STJ models (Super Trofeo Jota), and finally closes the Huracan chapter as Lamborghini moves into the future. The question is, does the Huracan STJ live up to the 10 years of history that precede it?   Race-Ready Performance For The Road The Lamborghini Huracan STJ isn’t your typical special farewell edition. Under that crispy, aggressive body resides the very same 5.2-liter V-10 that powers the Huracan STO. It delivers a cool 631 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque, enough for a sprint to 60 mph in less than three seconds and a top speed of 193 mph. As you’d expect power is directed exclusively to the rear wheels, with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic handling shifting duties.
