Nurse, Policymaker, and Executive Director of The Institute for Policy Solutions at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
It's my fourth month as executive director at the Institute for Policy Solutions at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Every day, I am reminded of the pivotal role that nurses play in redesigning health care and encouraging collaboration among interprofessional members of our nation's health workforce, communities, and policymakers to collectively solve one of the country’s most alarming and unsustainable problems: persistent health inequities. Our expertise and insight into the systems that deliver care and impact health, as well as what matters to patients, families, and communities, uniquely position the nursing profession to transform health care delivery from care that is primarily focused on treating illness to care that prioritizes health and well-being. Student Nurse|Bridging Healthcare and Technology| Passionate about Nursing Informatics, Mental Health, and Public Health.
Day 15: What if I Recorded Every Single Day of My Life?📚👩⚕️👩🏫🚧🖼👩💻 Day 15, and the lessons keep coming! ✨ One of the most striking things about nursing is the constant flow of insights—not just from textbooks, but from real-life experiences. 🎯🔆Every day on this journey, I’m reminded of the delicate balance we hold as nurses: the power we have, the trust we’re given, and the responsibility that comes with it. 🔆🎯Today, I found myself reflecting on how we handle this responsibility. The clinical setting can be so dynamic. 🔆🎯You meet patients who give you full access to their vulnerabilities—every door and window in their lives flung wide open for you to step in. 🔆🎯The weight of that trust is enormous. Like my friend mentioned the other day, nurses are given the keys to every secret door. ❔❓The question is, what do we do with that access? 🗯🗯I remember a piece of advice from one of my favorite lecturers: "If you ever want to fully understand what your patients go through, fall sick yourself." It’s a simple but powerful reminder to always lead with empathy. As we move forward⏩⏩ in this profession, it’s important to stay mindful of the power we hold and the privilege of using it to heal, not harm. I’m more determined than ever to carry this lesson with me. What lessons are you learning this week?🕊🕊 #LinkedInChallenge #Day15 #NursingJourney #PowerAndTrust #EmpathyInHealthcare #StayMindful #EveryDayCounts
