🌍 🌈 Global LGBTQ+ Rights: A Tale of Two Realities Recent developments highlight the contrasting experiences of LGBTQ+ communities worldwide. In Thailand, a historic leap towards equality was made as the country legalized same-sex marriage, offering hope and inspiration for LGBTQ+ rights across Asia. 🚨 In stark contrast, Georgia passed an anti-LGBTQ+ law restricting rights and intensifying discrimination. This law includes bans on same-sex marriages, adoption by LGBTQ+ individuals, public displays of support for LGBTQ+ relationships or individuals, and mentions of LGBTQ+ topics in the media. It also imposes restrictions on gender-affirming healthcare. These actions underscore the ongoing struggles for equality in many parts of the world. Let’s continue to support and advocate for universal human rights everywhere. #LGBTQ #Equality #HumanRights

As we embark on 2024, a year that will likely see *some* form of political change across the UK, but not before a probable further decline in the UK's standing on LGBTQ+ rights, we need to ask...how can we get the UK back on track for LGBTQ+ equality? This report from Institute for Government looking back at the work that led to the passing of same-sex marriage is well worth a read, as an example of effective campaigning, clear and bold political leadership, and well-organised government. Everyone involved should be incredibly proud, and those of us in the "Next Generation" should take on board these lessons and experiences. https://lnkd.in/eiP4w_Hu
