We hosted our public green event - Green T Baby Fun Day in March, featuring an iconic 6-metre-tall inflatable installation. In collaboration with the local eco-friendly brand ENTHEOS, we upcycled this installation into cute pouches, giving it a second life. These unique pouches are now available at our LOUDER retail stores. All profits from the sales will be donated to Dialogue Experience, supporting an inclusive community. #Sustainability #Upcycling #GreenTBaby

It's the Great Big Green Week 8th-16th June - the nationwide celebration of action on climate change and this year’s theme is Let's Swap Together for Good. More info on this at https://lnkd.in/eGahVAiC We'll be helping our charity clients to appreciate and encourage their shoppers to keep ‘swapping’ by showing them how green they are when they buy pre-owned rather than new. Our customer facing displays calculate the CO2 savings made vs buying new for all donated purchases – and we also supply clients with these calculations for easy reporting to interested parties, and supporters via the MyCharityShop app https://lnkd.in/engDwdu4 If you're interested in how this functionality works there's more information on our website at https://lnkd.in/eDAnw6xE #charityretail #charityshops #greatbiggreenweek #sustainability #charityepos

One day what we call sustainability will just be called "business" | Author: Managing Sustainability: First Steps to First Class
Proud of this team and to help, even in a small way, supporting this effort. Addressing climate change is not a matter of focusing on 1 or 2 industries and expecting them to do all the work, but rather each of us doing our part in our own way in our own business. #circulareconomy #wastereduction #climatechange
Today we are celebrating … …50 MILLION POUNDS OF FURNITURE! 🎊 🎉 That’s how much we’ve diverted from landfill and resold, donated or recycled in the last 12 years. That’s 2,500 truck loads – 18 wheelers. It reduces carbon emissions by 91,750 metric tons – the equivalent of eliminating 235 million miles of driving by gas-powered vehicles. And it helps more than 3,000 nonprofit and community groups devote more resources to the people they serve. Reaching this milestone is a huge accomplishment for our team, our customers and our service providers. We are grateful to each of you for your contribution, and we’re just getting started. Together, we’re getting zero done. #sustainability #officefurniture #circularity #zerowaste

Castoff refers to something that has been discarded or rejected, typically an item that is no longer needed or wanted. It can also describe a person who has been abandoned or overlooked. The term is often used for old clothes or belongings that are no longer used. Example Sentences: 1. She donated her old castoff clothes to the local thrift store. 2. The castoff furniture in the alley was still in good condition, so we took it home. 3. He felt like a castoff after being let go from his job. 4. The castoff books from the library were given away for free. 5. Many castoff items can be upcycled into something new and useful. 6. She found a beautiful vase among the castoff items at the flea market. 7. Instead of throwing away castoffs, try donating them to charity. 8. The team used castoff equipment for their training sessions. 9. After decluttering, we had a pile of castoffs ready to be donated. 10. Castoff garments can often be repurposed into fashionable, sustainable outfits. #Castoff #SecondHand #Upcycling #ThriftStoreFinds #SustainableLiving #DonateDontWaste #RecycledFashion #Repurpose #Declutter #ReuseAndRecycle

🌿✨ Purposefully Rehoming Textiles: Why Op-Shops Aren't Always the Answer ✨🌿 Donating to op-shops is undeniably noble, breathing new life into your unused items while supporting charitable causes. However, to maximise the impact of your generosity, we encourage you to exercise discernment in both your choices and the destinations of your donations. Op-shops, despite their benevolent mission, face an overwhelming influx of items. Astonishingly, only about 16% of received donations make it to the shop floor. The rest? They become rags, are consumed for energy production, or heartbreakingly end up in landfills. Consider a more strategic approach. We propose deliberate sorting and channelling of donations to specialised organisations. This method ensures your contributions resonate profoundly with those in need and align effectively with their requirements. Imagine sports gear finding new purpose through “Boots for All,” work attire empowering individuals through “Fitted for Work” or “Dress for Success,” children’s clothing supporting families via “3081 Angels,” baby wear reaching “Little Angels," and fabric and craft offering creativity with the help of "Creative Community Space". By fragmenting your contributions and directing them toward dedicated entities, you create a transformative narrative. This strategic dissemination stands as a beacon of efficacy, ensuring that those seeking specific items and those in genuine need are harmoniously aligned. Your thoughtful act, in this paradigm, becomes not just an act of giving but a conduit for meaningful change. ♻️ I freecycled about 80 items this summer! 🥳 Before I started packing to move home, I looked for stuff we hadn't used in a while and freecycled it. And as I packed, I freecycled more 💪 #Freecycling = circular "economy" - keeping things in use, to reduce the new things that need to be made. Just not the kind of "economy" you can make a living from 😂 More on this point later! It's just giving things away for free, with advantages over charity shop donating, e.g.: 1. Item can be imperfect (charity shops need sellable-condition); 2. Item goes directly to someone who wants it (what a charity shop can't sell becomes waste); 3. Don't need to leave home! 😂 I use my local Facebook Freecycle group (called CommunityCycle). Post a photo and short description, then send my address to the first requestor by *private message*. Important: I didn't have to meet up with 80 people! I leave the item outside in a waterproof box, or in my unlocked porch. They collect at their convenience. Of the 80 people I only actually saw 1 or 2! I also got my moving boxes on there with an "ISO" (In Search Of) post requesting some. #zerowaste #freecycle #reducereuserecycle #circulareconomy

The majority of clothing sent to landfill is in good condition. #SecondHandSeptember isn’t only about buying second-hand, it’s about raising awareness on the proper way to handle clothing you no longer need or want. Here are a few suggestions: 1) Buy second-hand when possible 2) Mend and repair 3) Share used garments with family and friends 4) Donate or sell used garments 5) Recycle/Upcycle with Nucycl®
