In Lisbon privately but remembering many fantastic trips we have made with many engineering groups. One of the most interesting projects in Lisbon right now is the Lisbon Metro Red Line extension; one of the projects included in the system’s development plan aiming at better connections and mobility, providing increased accessibility and reduced travel time while removing CO2 emissions. Metro de Lisboa is created by 4 lines with a total length of 44.5 km served by 56 stations. The developing project will add two more stations – Estrela and Santos – that will connect Rato (yellow line) and Cais do Sodré (green line), creating a Circular line which will be connected to the Lisboa-Cascais railway line. The project starts this year is expected to be completed in 2026. In October 2021, Metropolitano de Lisboa and the “Recuperar Portugal” Mission Structure signed an agreement to support the development of city’s metro system under the country’s Recovery and Resilience Plan 2026.

VINCI Airports invests for Northern Ireland connectivity and sustainable growth, and therefore prosperity. I was honoured to get personnally a warm support from leaders of all political parties for our investment, which got a sustainable financing. Belfast International Airport plays a pivotal role for aviation, tourism and the wider local economy of Northern Ireland. Traffic is already beyond 4,5 million passengers since January (+ 22 % compared to 2022). Last week, Bristol Airport won the Sustainable Airport award at the 2023 Airport Honour Awards, run by International Airport Review. Bristol Airport beat off competition from airports in three continents to take the award for its sustainability strategy, culture and ethos. 🏆 The Sustainable Airport award recognises Bristol Airport’s efforts to achieve net zero operations by 2030. The multi-million-pound investment required to make that target a reality continues, with a new 1.6mw solar array constructed on our airfield, gas being steadily removed and replaced with heating provided by air source heat pumps, and diesel vehicles being replaced with electric. Hannah Pollard, Head of Sustainability at Bristol Airport said: “We’re proud to be recognised by the International Airport review and to win this award. It supports our long-term sustainability plans and our aim to take a lead in this area. “There’s a huge amount still to do, not only as part of our plan to achieve net zero operations by 2030, but to address emissions from road transport accessing the Airport and from flights.
