Kua takitahi ngā whetū o Matariki i te rironga atu o tō tātou Kiingi, a Kiingi Tūheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero VII. Ko Te Papa Tongarewa e tangi mōteatea atu nei ki a Kīngi Tūheitia e takoto tīraha ana i tōna marae, i Tūrangawaewae. It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Kiingi Tūheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero VII early this morning. He was a great leader who advocated for Te Ao Māori, Pacific relations and international relationships that brought unity and strength to Aotearoa. Te Papa has a long-standing relationship with the Kiingitanga, having marked significant events, including the opening of Te Papa, and the ‘Tai timu, Tai pari: Tainui: Journey of a People’ iwi-in-residence exhibition from 2011-2014. In 2007, with the support of the Kiingitanga, the Mauri Ora exhibition of Māori treasures from Te Papa was opened at the National Museum of Tokyo, marking the King’s first international engagement. Over the coming days, we will have a memorial display with books, on Level 2 and on Rongomaraeroa Marae Level 4 where visitors are invited to share thoughts and messages to Kiingi Tūheitia. The books will be presented to the Kiingitanga at a later date. As a mark of our deepest respect, the Tino Rangatiratanga flag and the New Zealand flag are flying at half-mast on our forecourt. Keskustelunaiheena on ollut mm. kulttuurin ja kulttuuriperinnön merkitys ja suojeleminen erilaisissa kriiseissä. "Culture plays a vital role in democratic and resilient societies. Right now, with ongoing geopolitical tensions, crises, and war in nearby countries, there are many examples of culture and cultural heritage being targeted in various ways. In light of this, it was of high importance for the Nordic and Baltic ministers for Culture to join forces on this subject." Exhibition: China seen from Europe, 16th-19th century On display until March 2, at the National Library of Portugal, Gallery – Floor 2 (Campo Grande, 83, Lisbon) – Free Entry. Europe came to know China better, especially during the late Middle Ages, through the relationships created with Christian merchants and missionaries. However, it was at the beginning of the 16th century, within the framework of Portuguese maritime expansion, that a more constant presence of Europeans on the Chinese coasts allowed for a gradually more complete knowledge of China. Through this exhibition, which includes maps and itineraries, literary works, as well as objets d'art and digital images, you can follow some of the most important moments in the construction of the image of China from Europe between the 16th and 19th centuries. 25 Jan. | 6pm | Tour guided by Rui Lourido 15 Feb. | 2:30 pm | Tour guided by Rui Lourido 24 Feb. | 3pm | Tour guided by Rui Lourido 2 Mar. | 3pm | Tour guided by Rui Lourido All guided tours are free, but subject to prior registration at rel_publicas@bnportugal.gov.pt. Chairman, National Group of Educational Institutions | Member of Legislative Assembly, Kerala 2011 - 2021 | Executive Member, Indian Union Muslim League All India Committee
Chinese President Xi Jinping has delivered a speech at a conference in Beijing marking the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. He explained. “ Resolve of China to stay on the path of peaceful development will not change. We will never take the trodden path of colonial plundering, or the wrong path of seeking hegemony when one becomes stronger. We will sincerely and intentionally stay on the right path of peaceful development.” A foreign policy concept that was first articulated in an agreement with India in 1954 — on Friday (June 28). The currently relevant theme of “From the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”. What China calls the Five Principles is known in India as Panchsheel, which was a key aspect of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s vision of the world and the relations between nations and neighbours. The five guiding principles: 1) Mutual respect for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty; 2) Mutual non-aggression; 3) Mutual non-interference; 4) Equality and mutual benefit; and 5) Peaceful co-existence. The Bandung Conference of April 1955, in Indonesia, signed a 10-point declaration that co-opted the Five Principles or Panchsheel. The Bandung Conference would serve as the precursor to the Non-Aligned Movement. NAM was founded with the signing of the Brioni (Brijuni) Declaration on July 19, 1956 by Nehru, Egypt’s President Jamal Abdel Nasser, and Prime Minister Josip Broz Tito of Yugoslavia. The Brioni Islands are in the northern Adriatic Sea, and now a part of Croatia. The first NAM Summit in Belgrade held from September 1 to 6, 1961, accepted Panchsheel as the “principled core” of the grouping. The Global South must have a clear cut vision on this topic and an unwavering mission to make world governance more effective, humanistic, inclusive and balanced on the basis of cooperation, justice, peace and freedom. The Global South now must articulate a clear and visionary stance on peaceful coexistence, coupled with an unwavering commitment to enhancing global governance. This mission should strive for a world that is more effective, humanistic, inclusive, and balanced.

One of the key commitments that stood out for me from the Pact for the Future, Summit of the Future outcome document, is the pledge to honour, promote, and preserve cultural diversity and heritage. It emphasizes the importance of languages, knowledge systems, traditions, and fostering intercultural and interreligious dialogue. A crucial element in this commitment is the call for strengthened international cooperation on the return and restitution of cultural properties from monuments to manuscripts to their countries of origin (This will be a big talk). This appeal not only targets governments but also encourages private entities to join the effort, ensuring that cultural treasures of spiritual, ancestral, historical, and cultural value are preserved and returned to where they belong. This is a profound step toward safeguarding our global heritage and nurturing a more inclusive, respectful, and connected world. i guess this is more happy news to Aliguma Ahabyona Akiiki and bwana Albert Kasozi. #CulturalHeritage #CulturalDiversity #GlobalCooperation #OurCommonFuture
