A Look Back at 2023 Numbers, numbers, numbers. We live in a world of numbers. We are frequently asked questions like, “How many veterans have you worked with?” “How many service dogs have you trained?” And rightfully so. We want our donors and supporters to be confident that we are doing what we say we are doing. However, at times, the true impact can be overshadowed when we reduce it to mere statistics. Sometimes whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Statistical data reveals that every death by suicide impacts 115 lives. But how many lives are impacted by those who live? Like George Bailey learned with a little help from a certain guardian angel, we never know who we touch and whose life we change. Our mission is to help veterans have a better quality of life through training and ongoing support. Our program is as much about the journey as it is the end result, and that journey creates a ripple that is far reaching. When we help a veteran manage the challenges of their disability, we help their spouse, children, family, and friends. We help mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, uncles, aunts, neighbors, teachers, and mentors. Approximately 1 in 10 Montanans has served our country.
