Breaking News: The Verdict Is In, Vacation Policies in the Workplace Revealed Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts in my recent poll on workplace vacation cultures! From your responses, half of the participants feel their employer actively supports taking vacation time and promotes a healthy work-life balance. It's great to see such support within my network, knowing you're valued in a healthy work environment! A key point that surprised me was a significant number noted that it varies based on managers or teams. It makes sense that managers typically have autonomy to manage their teams PTO how they see fit. Obviously, fostering a healthy balance between work, and personal time is crucial and should be engrained in company values. Are you surprised that individual managers have so much control over a critical part of your relationship with work? What are some ways you would change that if you could?

Employees shouldn't have to feel guilty for taking vacation or time away from their jobs. People deserve to unplug, take care of themselves, and enjoy life. Yes, it can be nuanced if you own a business, have a big project due, or need to take extended time. There's always nuance. But for the most part, companies offer time off for people to literally have time off (and for companies that don't offer this, welp...they should). Being away from our job can actually make us better at our jobs when we come back! So. Take the PTO, take the vacation, take a reset day. Life-work balance > Work-life balance.

You know 15 of my PLs lapsed this year! I just got an award for the 100% attendance! Does that sound like you? Many of us pride ourselves that we don’t take leaves at office. Then, when we work we lament on how there is no work life balance in our lives. Just like salary or bonuses, leaves are also something we deserve. Even machine needs regular downtime to service itself. Our minds & bodies are surely more important, right? I tell my teams to plan their annual vacations in April/May. April as a month is a bit light & a coordinated absence helps planning too. So are the long weekends, nothing wrong in going on a short trip. Obviously plan well to avoid the traffic 😂 Now, i am not advocating careless leaves. Why would a machine that never starts need servicing? But those of us who work hard, need to play hard too. Take a break, rejuvenate, revitalise and come back to work - stronger, faster, better. #BalanceWeek #worklifebalance Tomorrow - Mobiles & Vacations.

The Battle for Better Work-Life Balance Who else felt that this week? One minute you're hustling hard, absolutely crushing it at work. The next? You've zoomed out only to find your life is a blurry mess of unanswered texts and half-eaten meals. We've all been there - consumed by the daily grind, personal lives hanging on by a thread. But it doesn't have to be this way, friends. The struggle for work-life balance is real, but it's a battle we can win! Maybe we need to start scheduling "life" into our calendars like we do meetings? Or setting Gmail vacation responders that read "I'm living successfully outside of my inbox at the moment." Hey, whatever works! At the end of the day, we're all just out here trying our best. Climbing the corporate ladders AND doing loads of laundry (because even managers have to wash skivvies sometimes). It's a constant juggling act. So let's make a pact - to shut the laptops earlier, to say "no" to unnecessary overtime, to actually use those paid vacation days! Your work will be there tomorrow, but this one precious life? That's a limited time engagement. Who's with me in prioritizing LIVING over living at work? Give this post a 👍 if you're ready to fight for more balanced lives! We've got this.

I believe many individuals can relate to the common struggle known as the "Working Vacation." The ability to effectively communicate and plan ahead is crucial in such situations. When an employee is unexpectedly absent due to personal circumstances like illness or a family tragedy, we come together as a team to handle the workload. However, it seems that we encounter unnecessary challenges when a team member plans a well-deserved vacation to relax and enjoy life for a week. It's worth reconsidering our approach to this issue, especially if we still only provide two weeks of vacation per year.
