Too much time between steps in the process can make a candidate feel unsure, leading to a bad candidate experience. It is important to put yourself in your candidate's shoes.    I have seen candidates pull out of conversations due to feeling unwanted, or like the company is dragging their feet.    Week 1 1. Initial Phone Call: Engage in conversation about the role and assess what is important to the candidate. Explain your vision, values, and organization. Gauge mutual interest and the desire to keep talking.   2. Phone call #2: Dive deeper into qualifications, skills, industry knowledge, and cultural fit.   Week 2   3. In-Person Interview: Showcase your workplace and introduce candidates to the team.   4. Offer Discussion: Transparently discuss compensation and address negotiation points.   Week 3   5. Offer Letter and Acceptance: Extend a well-crafted offer and confirm acceptance in writing.   Week 4-5   6. Reference and Background Checks: Validate employment history and conduct thorough screenings.   7. Start Date: Provide a seamless onboarding experience for a successful start.   Tailor this roadmap to have enough time to do your due diligence and build rapport, while also striking while the iron is hot.
