" Separate but Equal" is the next step and at that point, I want to see how lawmakers spin the need for such a horrific divide. What they possibly could say to justify reversing decades of civil rights action. What we as the people must do moving forward is remind the world that democracy thrives on diversity and when the civil liberties of one minority class are taken, it's a gateway to attack the civil liberties of all minority classes. https://lnkd.in/gjHPW53m

Fighting for civil rights since 1955. Here's an article I found from 1963 about a hard won fair housing victory from 1963 for Dr. Oswald Nickens. Read about what we did last year in our annual report: https://ow.ly/hXQl50S2BZm

Doesn’t need an introduction.

Truly appreciate Dr. Rice’s passionate plea, it is high time we leave “elementary” criticism of school choice behind, and embrace full fledged educational choice for all Oklahomans. I would hope a conservative legislature could make Oklahoma the leader in school choice for everyone!! Two things would greatly improve education in Oklahoma: Require 70 cents of every dollar allocated or appropriated for education be earmarked and spent on teacher compensation; and two, embrace full, unadulterated, unrestricted school vouchers for Oklahoma parents for all children, irrespective of income level. Leave behind the childish dialogue of public versus private education. Understand that we all embrace "public" spending for education and the priority of same, we just differ on how best to distribute the public dollars. I believe empowering parents is better than feeding a system.

Juneteenth + Fair Housing = reasons to look back, look forward! Ten months after freedom came to enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865 — the occasion we remember as Juneteenth — Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the first federal law to call for racial equity in housing. Even at the dawn of emancipation, many already knew: freedom had to include fair housing. Our offices are closed in observance. But even as we look back, we look onward to securing fair housing for all. It’s our commitment not only to freedom, but to liberation. #Juneteenth #FairHousing #civilrightsact1866 #liberation
