In celebration of Pride Month, we want to share how important it is to be an ally to the 2SLGBTQI+ community and champion diversity in the workplace. Recently, we hosted a great discussion with some of our employees about what it means to be an ally and how we can support a culture of understanding, belonging, inclusivity, and allyship. Here are some insights that came from the discussion: ➡️ Actively listen and learn about the whole person. How they identify is only one part of who they are so take the time to get to know them. ➡️ Take the time to build your knowledge and awareness about people who are different from you. ➡️ Take the time to acknowledge your biases and how they may be affecting your actions. ➡️ Stand up and address situations when others are saying things that aren’t supportive of others. ➡️ Be brave and have the confidence to support your peers On behalf of eSentire, Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈

#Inclusive workplaces are for everyone. They embody a #culture where every voice is heard, experience is valued and journey is supported. When Eric Guyer was Director Of Community Justice in Jackson County, he invited Celebrate Diversity! to provide Cultural Agility training to his staff. Here are some of his comments about the impact of our collaboration: "We wanted to take a deeper dive to understand our community better, for our staff to comprehend how people have experienced the criminal justice system, and provide opportunities for dialogue. We were familiar with your approach and professionalism and wanted to go beyond awareness to shifts and openings in attitudes and disposition. Champions for this work emerged and we demystified topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). We developed leadership and identified this work as a value in the department. We recommend this to all organizations, especially those who believe EDI work is not needed, or if there is uncertainty, or resistance. Celebrate Diversity's style is human-centered, meets people where they are at, and is very inclusive." -Thank you, Eric, for having engaged with us and being part of the change we wish to see in our communities! Being misgendered daily is exhausting. This Pride Month, not a day has gone by where this hasn't been the case. It’s a constant reminder that I am not being seen for who I truly am. Each time it happens, I’m faced with the uncomfortable dilemma: do I correct the person and risk confrontation, or do I let it slide and compromise my sense of self? Pronouns are more than just words; they’re an essential part of our identities. When someone uses the correct pronouns, it’s a simple yet powerful way of showing respect and recognition. It acknowledges who we are and affirms our place in the world. As we celebrate the progress made during Pride Month, let’s not forget that there is still work to be done. Let’s make a conscious effort to use correct pronouns, to listen and learn from each other, and to create spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.

Honoring Philly Pride While Pride in Philly (like everywhere) is about identity, I like to think that we are all stronger when we build on our varied identities together. I’m always thinking about business, so for me, Pride Week is a reminder that no matter what anyone’s orientation may be, the mix and acceptance of all our differences becomes a competitive strength. As companies, we know that diversity expands our understanding and acceptance. Together, we gain better insights into the world and the markets we serve, benefit from a wider range of ideas and opinions, experience greater creativity, and become more accomplished and successful as problem solvers and competitive businesses. As I’ve read about Philly Pride Week, I’ve come across these inspirational thoughts I’d like to share.
