Here are the five key takeaways form BeautyMatter’s FUTURE50 fireside panel on global regulatory issues, featuring Meredith Petillo, VP of Technical & Regulatory Affairs at The Independent Beauty Association 🌟 New MoCRA deadlines are right around the corner. The deadline to comply with the new FDA provisions for facility registration and cosmetic product listing requirements is fast approaching on July 1, 2024. 🌟 Brands need to include fees associated with complying with new state and federal regulations in their budgets. 🌟 For brands, getting involved in trade associations is so important for staying updated on what’s happening on a state-by-state, federal, and international level. 🌟 Trade associations are the voice of the industry. IBA is currently tracking hundreds of bills that could potentially have a huge impact on the beauty industry. 🌟 The FTC is currently in the process of revising its Green Guides for the first time since 2012. #beautyregulatory #mocra #beautyindustry #beautymatter #FUTURE50

Reflecting on an insightful panel discussion at the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists in Melbourne : It was an absolute pleasure as ONEA Organic Brand owner to contribute to the recent panel discussion hosted by the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Our focus? Claim Substantiation and Consumer Product Claims: Basics and Important Considerations. We delved into the core challenges faced by brands and formulators in today's dynamic market. One of the key dilemmas discussed was the balancing act between maximizing consumer appeal and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. How do we create formulations that captivate consumers while adhering to strict regulatory requirements? It's a fine line that requires careful navigation and a deep understanding of both consumer desires and legal obligations. Another pressing question we tackled: Does the general consumer trust product claims? In an era of information overload and skepticism, building and maintaining consumer trust is more critical than ever. We explored strategies to enhance transparency, credibility, and authenticity in product claims to foster trust and loyalty among consumers. And of course, we didn't shy away from addressing the consequences of getting it wrong. When claims are inaccurate or misleading, the repercussions can be severe – from damaged brand reputation to legal ramifications. We emphasized the importance of robust processes for claim substantiation and meticulous attention to detail at every stage of product development. In conclusion, the panel discussion underscored the multifaceted nature of claim substantiation and consumer product claims in today's landscape. It's a complex arena where science, creativity, and compliance intersect, requiring collaboration and continuous learning to navigate successfully. A huge thank you to the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists for organizing such a thought-provoking event, and to my fellow panelists for their invaluable insights. Looking forward to further discussions and collaborations in the future!
