MD at "Water Pumping Institute" ♦ 56 years in pumping & hydraulics ♦ Sustainable Pumping Expert ♦ Pumping System Energy Auditing specialist ♦ EXPERT WITNESS ♦ Independent Consultant - never sold product
There's no RIGHT or WRONG – there are only CONSEQUENCES… That’s what WATER PUMPING INSTITUTE teaches in its Sustainable Pumping for Water and Wastewater course. Weve been in the industry for 56 years, commencing with 25 years with SA Water, progressed to the less discerning private sector, and seen all of the different methods of designing pumping systems. They all have merit, just that some have more consequences than others, and some have dire consequences. We look at subjects such as pipeline selection, pump suction pipework configuration, pump selection and even flowmeters and evaluate the consequences of different approaches to design. Sustainable Pumping is governed by 6 key parameters, there are many options to consider for your final assessment. In the end, you are empowered to make you own decision on how you design your sustainable pumping system, but you walk out of our class armed with software and knowledge to make the design consideration yours, completely aware of the consequences of your actions. Join our next class in Adelaide at the InterContinental Hotel, North Tce on May 15th, 16th. And suffer the consequences! (good ones.. 😊) Contact Rob on 0414 492 256 or r.welke@talle.biz to join the class. #SAWATER #AHSCA #GOC #PINION #ARUP #AURECON #RPS #GHD #STANTEC #ACOR #VEOLIA #AECOM #AWA

[Egis in Kyrgyzstan] On August 28th, Egis proudly inked a contract for the Osh Water Phase III – Project Feasibility Assessment in #Kyrgyzstan. This significant endeavor, facilitated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as the financing entity and client, is poised to provide crucial financial support to the Kyrgyz Republic for the expansion of its wastewater treatment plant in Osh. The ambitious project, which underscores the city's commitment to cleaner waterways and healthier ecosystems, is expected to have far-reaching positive impacts on both the environment and the community. This project is led by COWI, while Egis as a partner is responsible for the preparation of the feasibility study, as well as assisting in the development of the procurement strategy and obtaining financial and economic data for the bank to prepare the financial model. Best wishes for the successful implementation of this project, which promises to make a substantial impact on enhancing water infrastructure and environmental sustainability in Kyrgyzstan! #project #water #wastewater #development #feasibilitystudy #sustainability #infrastructure

Transforming Water Management with China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a landmark in technological and engineering innovation, addressing severe water scarcity in the north by diverting water from the south. The project will eventually divert 44.8 billion cubic meters annually across three routes: Eastern, Central, and Western. This project connects the Yangtze, Yellow, Huaihe, and Haihe rivers. Key advancements include cutting-edge hydraulic engineering, sophisticated tunnel construction, and modern water treatment facilities. While promising to ease water shortages, the project also tackles environmental and social challenges, like community displacement and ecological impacts, with mitigation efforts to ensure safe water standards. #innovation #technology #engineering #watermanagement #sustainability #WaterInnovation #SustainableSolutions #WaterManagement #TechTransformations #ChinaEngineering #FutureOfWater #EnvironmentalImpact #InfrastructureRevolution #WaterScarcitySolution

APTIM’s senior director and national #resilience leader, Dr. Paul Tschirky, PhD, P.Eng, BC.CE, will be presenting at American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) inaugural INSPIRE - Infrastructure Innovation & Adaptation for a Sustainable & Resilient World Conference in Arlington, #Virginia from Nov. 16-18, 2023. The conference brings together experts, practitioners, government agency representatives, and academics to exchange ideas on how to deliver more #resilient and #sustainable infrastructure systems to help communities adapt to #climatechange. His paper and talk are entitled, “Resilience Implications Where Land and Water Meet “ and will take place on Thursday November 16 at 8:30am. One of the areas most heavily impacted by changing climate is the interface where land and water meet. With increasing sea levels and risks from storm events, the need to develop holistic, innovative, and resilient solutions that address the interaction of critical built infrastructure and ecosystems along shorelines has never been more important. APTIM’s full-service resilience solutions team is passionate about supporting our clients in building a sustainable future for our communities and the natural world. *Clarification of Misgivings and Misperceptions on CPEC* Recent news articles have claimed that China does not want to expand the scope of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). These claims are factually incorrect and misleading. China and Pakistan are committed to expanding the scope of CPEC to include new areas of cooperation, such as water resources management, climate change, and tourism. These areas were already part of the CPEC Long Term Plan, and both sides agreed during the deliberations before the 11th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) to work out the detailed contours of these projects in upcoming sessions of respective Joint Working Groups (JWGs). The JWGs are technical bodies comprising experts from both sides, who are responsible for conceiving and evaluating project proposals in their respective areas. This is a standard procedure for CPEC projects, and it ensures that all proposals are carefully considered and that they meet the goals and objectives of the CPEC Long Term Plan. CPEC projects have already been implemented and are ongoing in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the coastal areas. More projects are planned in these areas in the future. China and Pakistan have a time-tested friendship, and CPEC has greatly enhanced Pakistan's energy, logistical, and physical infrastructure capabilities. The benefits of CPEC are widely distributed throughout Pakistan. Both sides are fully resolved to now harness the investments in infrastructure for economic growth, particularly in export-oriented industries, agriculture productivity, and natural resource management, all while enhancing partnership in addressing the concerns of climate change and sustainable development.

Environmentalists, Water expert, specialists in rural water supply and Sanitation, Climate change activist, Sustainable Development Professional, President Young Water Professional S/L,
Looking for recommendations and partnerships to help standardize our pump system to be able to serve larger communities and help do some improvements that am fighting with at the moment….. My plan is to be able to produce our low cost pump system to not just everyone in Sierra Leone but across Africa where the people themselves can do. Another good thing about our system is that all components like Piston, foot valve and guide piece are not factory made but locally made and this means that….the problem with maintaining and expenditures on buying parts will no longer be an issue for the users. Let’s make this dream come through….local solution to local problems.
