Navarro Research and Engineering’s Post

At RadWaste Summit, last week, our Founder, President and CEO, Susana Navarro led a panel, “Small Businesses, Big Missions” alongside some of our senior leaders. Dr. Navarro introduced the company and recounted how Navarro went from niche nuclear safety contractor to prime contractor over the past three decades. Panelists discussed their commitment to client satisfaction and how that leads to successful project outcomes time and time again. They also highlighted the importance of agility, flexibility and responsiveness in managing and executing prime contracts. Navarro has the responsiveness of a small business, with the capabilities of a large business. They also discussed the challenges of maintaining outdated equipment and infrastructure, managing large sample volumes and implementing safety protocols, while emphasizing the importance of overcoming these challenges to maintain smooth operations. Panelists also highlighted the advantages of small business partnerships for employees, including their ability to foster professional growth and the loyalty between the company and its employees. Small businesses allow employees to grow with the company. At a small business, employees can become valuable in more than one role, which leads to a stronger, well-rounded workforce. The panelists advocated for the Department of Energy to open up their larger, more complex projects to small businesses and to acknowledge the efforts of the larger companies that collaborate with the smaller ones. This was an impactful conversation and we want to say thank you to RadWaste and all who attended the panel!
