It's my favorite day of the year, ExtraGive! Today the small community of Lancaster, PA will raise millions of dollars for local charities. We're at $1.3M already, and it's not even 9am. While there are many worthy charities in our community, I ask that you consider supporting Lancaster Public Library. Some reasons to support LPL include...
The Lancaster Public Library serves over 40% of the county's population with two locations in Lancaster City and Mountville.
The Lancaster Public Library serves more than 350,000 annual visitors in a typical year with free public library services.
Lancaster Public Library patrons borrow nearly 700,000 items each year.
The Lancaster Public Library is not fully funded with public dollars. In fact, more than 60% of our budget is funded through donations and library generated revenue.
Across the country, comparably sized public libraries operate with budgets two to three times ours, have over twice as many staff members, and receive upwards of $38 per resident of dedicated local funding! In comparison, the Lancaster Public Library receives about $1.49 per resident in local funding and it isn't guaranteed.
Thank you, NCAA!
